No matter who you are, where you are, or even your political view, there is no denying today was special. At mornings first light I woke to find a Southern rarity. SNOW.
I am currently in Columbia, South Carolina taking my broker's course. Outside my hotel window, my eyes were treated to flakes, flurries and a beautiful white topping that simply isn't typical in beautiful South Carolina.
I felt like a little girl. My first instinct was to hurry downstairs and make the biggest and best snowball ever made. Adulthood kicked in and I realized that should I decide to launch this ball of perfection I could very well land myself in jail. So I resisted.
Instead, I grabbed a cup of coffee and turned on the morning news. Somewhat less adventurous yet not likely to land me in the slammer.
Millions and millions of people gathered in Washington, DC. WOW. I listened to the commentators, attendees, and pundits all describe the indescribable feeling in the air.
This day is special. I feel a sense of renewal and cohesion unlike anything I have felt in my lifetime. I think of all the important people in my life and wonder how they are feeling, what are their thoughts, and do they feel the excitement?
After watching the morning news, gazing at the snow, and avoiding jail, I realized I had to get to class.
It was a little difficult focusing with everything else going on around me but I managed. After wards, I topped this day off with dinner with a friend. A friend who inspires and encourages with just about every word.
And to make things even more spectacular, I had turnip greens.
I am excited, proud, and hopeful on this extraordinary day.
