Snow In South Carolina, A New President, and Turnip Greens

By

No matter who you are, where you are, or even your political view, there is no denying today was special. At mornings first light I woke to find a Southern rarity. SNOW.

I am currently in Columbia, South Carolina taking my broker's course. Outside my hotel window, my eyes were treated to flakes, flurries and a beautiful white topping that simply isn't typical in beautiful South Carolina.

I felt like a little girl. My first instinct was to hurry downstairs and make the biggest and best snowball ever made. Adulthood kicked in and I realized that should I decide to launch this ball of perfection I could very well land myself in jail. So I resisted.

Instead, I grabbed a cup of coffee and turned on the morning news. Somewhat less adventurous yet not likely to land me in the slammer.

Millions and millions of people gathered in Washington, DC. WOW. I listened to the commentators, attendees, and pundits all describe the indescribable feeling in the air.

This day is special. I feel a sense of renewal and cohesion unlike anything I have felt in my lifetime. I think of all the important people in my life and wonder how they are feeling, what are their thoughts, and do they feel the excitement?

After watching the morning news, gazing at the snow, and avoiding jail, I realized I had to get to class.

It was a little difficult focusing with everything else going on around me but I managed. After wards, I topped this day off with dinner with a friend. A friend who inspires and encourages with just about every word.

And to make things even more spectacular, I had turnip greens.

I am excited, proud, and hopeful on this extraordinary day.

If you yearn for more snow, I can send you all you want.  We are thinking of exporting it anyway. We are running out of places to put it.  We'll even deliver.  Congratulations on your great day.  You are right.  There is a renewed sense of energy and excitement.  I hope the stock market realizes it soon.

Take care.

Tough to not sit with that coffee in your PJ's watching the snow, or with a good book. But hey, I'm glad you felt such an awesome feeling. Lets pray our new president is all of what so many people think he is! You know, whether you agree so far or not with him, as an American you have to hope he is the best president EVER! :)

Cherimie:  Personally... I think you should have gone with your first urge... and made that super-sized snowball !  I hope your brokers course went well... and am glad you enjoyed the snow.  By the way... here in Fort Worth... this Thursday it will be as unseasonably warm and today for you was unseasonably cold.  The forecast calls for a high temperature of eighty degrees.  Yum !

Today was an extraordinary day, that's for sure.  We have a new President, our country is headed in a new direction with no room for tolerance of anything short of excellence.  We had snow, all was clean and quiet ... and nobody went to jail for launching a snowball.  Best of luck with your Broker's course.
