I was a teenager when Martin Luther King made that statement  " he had a dream".  I shared with my grown children some of the things that I remember about those times.  I grew up in a "white" neighborhood, went to a "white" school but in a family where everyone was to be respected.  My parents taught us not to discriminate against others because of their color, their economic status, and anyone who had a disability.  There were words that if said in our household would get us grounded or in those days perhaps spanked. We were to be kind.

I can rmember the signs of those days, white water and colored water.  Like most young kids we were curious. I thank my parents for never letting my brothers and I judge people and that all are equal and anyone can be whatever they want to be.

Watching President Obama take the oath today is a time to rejoice.  Mankind has finally come full circle. It was a proud day for all of us, no matter your party, this is a time for the people.

AJ... you're right... this was a watershed day... people will remember, years from now, where they were when it occurred.

I was raised by the biggest bigget ever. I am not proud of that but I do take pride in teaching my children acceptance and tolerance of others. I hated the way my father spoke and was embarrassed by his behavior on many occassions. Today I am especially proud to be American.

I don't have a problem with the color of his skin, however I do have a problem with his policies and political views.
