It seems that lately the barrage of brokerages trying to coerce me into moving my license has increased exponentially.  Whether they're driven by a slower market, greed, or whatever, I'm literally getting hit up 2-3 times a day lately.

While I have absolutely no interest in making any changes, I still get a kick out of evaluating these recruiters' approaches, and the impersonal manner in which they come at me is mind-boggling.  One of the ones I got today though, deserves special attention.  I prefer not to poke fun at people publicly - most times anyway - so I've removed logos and email addresses to protect the incompetent.

Here's a screenshot from the email I received today from, of course, someone I've never heard of, and who has never made any attempt to meet me personally:

Recruiter

Anyone else see any problems here?

How much confidence would you have in a company with a complete lack of attention to detail?

I'm thinking, even if I were looking to make a brokerage change (which, again, I'm not), this one wouldn't even be in the running.

Thoughts, anyone?

My thought is that this is the funniest thing I've seen today.

Lenn, my wife, my staff, and I had a pretty good laugh about it as well.  We each had to read ita  few times just to figure out the original intent.

I'm with you...it took me a few times to figure it out.  Yep, makes me want to work for them, lol.  Congratulations on making it into the AR newsletter!

Yikes!  I cannot believe that a professional broker sent that out.  That is not the person I would want making sure that all of the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed!

Hi Ryan...Even if I could make sense of what they are trying to say I know my answer would still be, No Thanks!

Not only is the message confusing, but I thought it is 2009!

I'm going to write an article about how inept Realtors can be at recruiting you to their team.

Maybe they only want perfectionists to call?  ;-)

Dear Ryan,

I can't believe that a real estate company would allow this to be distributed!

Yep, brokerages are hunting for agents as the herd thins out.  Lots of low cost virtual brokers that will let you hang your license.  Lots of scams also.

It is confusing. I have to imagine the strategy was to "peak the interest" of the recipient to call and learn more as a call to action. Terrible job on their part.

Any successful business person knows that the "devil is in the details!"... TODAY more than ever.

Wow, it sure is jam packed with mistakes.  If they are trying to recruit professionals, they should at least run spell check and grammar check!

Hi Ryan

I feel the same as you do... It seems the harder the time the more junk people are sending out to try and get your attention.

6:11pm • #15

Ryan,

I'm with a small office that I enjoy working in and I'm continously being recruited by the so called largest brokerage. I don't have any interest. My feeling is why not recruit newly licensed agents that a broker can train the way he/she does business. Of course, not many people entering real estate in this market.

The email you received is alarming- to say the least.

Huh? What the heck does that mean? It's so unprofessional it's funny! Thanks for the laugh.

It is apparent that, just as every state, municipality, and individual brokerage, and regardless of company brand, size, race, creed, color, religion, etc, etc., etc., has its inept agents, so does this brokerage.  I happen to recognize the "templated" ad which this company's vendor (and a good one I might ad) makes available to every agents with this company.  This was probably not sent out by a responsible broker, but by an agent (who exemplifies good intent, admirable initiative, and great desire to build their income utilizing a system built on residuals).  It appears that maybe this person might be somewhat non-proficient in the proper use of the english language and all the blame should be placed on the responsible broker for allowing this "bad" ad to be published.  As every broker, or their designated representative, should review all their company's ads for correctness, this company has an added responsibility.  That being the company recruitment effort that is in the hands of every associate in this company.

This is an EXiT Realty associate, and while I'm not defending that person nor the broker who let this recruiting message slip out, I will say this: While most of you spent time on your A/R point grabbing badgering bandwaggon, this individual is trying to deliver an important message.  One that many agents DON'T (or don't want to) understand.  And, all the while you are reading this blog comment, this is the ONLY company that is GROWING in a down market! (at a record pace I'll ad)

Ryan:  Instead of standing around with your entire staff laughing aloud, should you be out listing or selling or something, or blogging about something constructive?   If you don't understand why companies recruit, then check into updating your industry subscriptions and invest some time in learning about a company you apparantly know nothing about.

Gabe:  Also, you should do a little research.  The company that pays residuals is no discount broker or scam.  Homework and "Residuals" is your keyword search for the day.

Scott and Barbara:  I agree!  Proof, proof and re-proof!  This is in no way a reflection of the entire company.  If that were the case, we'd all be in trouble.

To all others:  I'm proud to be with EXiT Realty and when I'm retired, with income, I'll think about all those who said,  Duh, No Thanks!

P.S. How does $26,000 a month in residuals sound to you???????????  Are you making that much?

Buyers shop around before purchasing a home and Professional people shop around before deciding on their career. They also know their first choice is usually not their last, because new and different career opportunities will become available during their lifetime.

You are probably just one of hundreds or thousands that received this email and yes, there are misspelled words. Did you ever make a mistake while writing a listing or contract?

The individual sending or posting this is simply generating additional income, and you have helped him or her spread the message "REAL ESTATE RE-INVENTED".

This company has created income where there was no income before; created security for you, your family and your grandchildren where there was no security before. They created a happy ending to your career where as it is now, YOU STOP for what ever reason and YOUR INCOME STOPS.

The company is also willing to give its most valued assets, its agents a "piece of the action" for helping build the company, and an opportunity for agents to own their own business with no investment, risk, overhead or management. They also created a mentoring based company when all there has ever been is a competitive, ego-based environment.

So, keep posting their messages and he/she may consider you a friend...or contact them directly and ask them why word(s) misspelled and what would "REAL ESTATE RE-INVENTED" really mean for you $$$$$$$$$.

So, apparently about 89% of the commenters here have a sense of humor, and the other 11% are awfully defensive about something.  Thanks to the 89% for your comments, and I'm glad you enjoyed the post.  To the 11%, thanks for your comments as well.  I wasn't here to bash anyone, which is why I removed the company logos, names & emails, so I'm not sure why you felt the need to bring your company into the argument.  I know plenty about said company and if that's your thing, more power to you.  Different strokes for different folks.  Have a great day everyone!
