Digital media is all-the-buzz with much being written about how even the presidential campaign used social networking to connect with voters. Marketing guru Marti Garaughty touched on the subject in his recent “The Art of Marketing You” group post on the Active Rain network;

“We could all learn a few lessons from his online marketing strategies. Check it out, grab a free copy over at Edelman, Digital Public Affairs….”

- marti garaughty

I think Marti’s post as well as the article he makes available to download are excellent reads and have no question that the face of business marketing includes at least an element of social media; the likes of twitter and facebook to remain competitive.

If you’ve been on the sidelines wondering how people and business are using networking sites to put themselves and brands “center stage” - live examples could be the best way to find that answer. Providing links (below) to 3 search engines that specifically focus on sifting through internet social circles including blogs and microblogs that may help simplify such a quest.

You can try typing a business or your own name into the search bar and generate results that are incredibly fast. It’s almost scary to see their capabilities in action and reflects just how easy it really is to “follow” online. One consideration when you or your business is out there, they really are – out there.

Aloha Teresa,

Obama really exemplified the power of being 'Tech Savvy' and the effectiveness it holds in communicating information to the world. Marti has some great posts and you are always on the cutting edge of Tech information and sharing it with your readership.

I like your wordle images they give your blog a great look.

Peace,

Kimo - how ironic that I was writing on your facebook wall while you were commenting on mine in the rain. How's that for a "digital" connection between the mainland and paradise. Thanks for your kindness Kimo, it means a lot! - agreed....Marti is incredible.  Aloha

Teresa - What an interesting post. I followed your advice, plugged my name in to all three of those search engines and was amazed at the results. Social media marketing is definitely going to be (or is already and we don't even realize it) part of the marketing trend in Real Estate.

The latest edition of Wired has an article about a person who decided to live totally publicly for a while... this would allow people to "follow" him geographically at all times. To a great extent, much of this social media stuff borders on the "stalker approved" rating. I don't quite know where to draw the line.

Gary - you're so right on...something to try to get more comfortable with because just how transparent everything has become is amazing to say the least.

Chuck - I'll have to check out "Wired" for the article...I can't imagine not having any privacy - some of the "reality shows" play on the same principle though - I'd have a hard time being "out there" 24/7 - seriously! "bad hair days" and all? na.- it's kind of comforting to know that day after day (month after month) -  some days are just made for avitars and slippers :)

Your so welcome Teri and that's the truth - of all people - you on the sidelines? Not a chance! I've come to know the "Lady in Red" as someone who is very involved and stands out beautifully everywhere. Have a great week-end.:)
