How to add social network buttons to your ActiveRain blog

I am writing this post because I have been asked multiple times in the past month how I added my LinkedIn and Twitter buttons to the right panel of my blog.

It's actually fairly simple.

Let's first start by grabbing a LinkedIn button.

Login to your LinkedIn account and go to http://www.linkedin.com/profile?promoteProfile=&trk=mypro_badges to grab HTML for a LinkedIn badge.

Now go to your ActiveRain profile and click the "Settings" link

Add social network buttons to AR blog

On the settings page you will see a "Blog Description" box.

Paste the LinkedIn badge HTML in this box. If you already have a description in the box, paste the LinkedIn code below the text you already have. After adding the HTML click the "Update" button.

Add LinkedIn button to your ActiveRain Blog

Now navigate back to your blog and you should see the LinkedIn button.

You can also add other social network buttons using this same method. You can grab some really cool Twitter buttons from http://www.twitbuttons.com/

Hi Mary - it's kind of hard to find on LinkedIn. You can get them by going directly to url http://www.linkedin.com/profile?promoteProfile=&trk=mypro_badges

You will need to be logged into your LinkedIn account.
