Addison Dog Park

Addison is a dog-friendly place.  The town boasts two dog parks where dogs can run off-leash safely.  The smaller park, situated near the south end of Les Lacs Trail, is open from 5:00 am til 11:00 pm, while the newer park, accessible through the trail at the south end of Le Grande Dr., is open from 7:00 am to dusk.  This second park has separate areas for large dogs and small dogs.  Both parks have bench seating for the humans, pooper scooper stations, and doggie water fountains.  These dog parks are for Addison residents only!

Complying with the rules (below) for the dog parks is a condition of using the parks:

Human Food & Dog Treats - are not allowed in the off leash area.  This can cause fights among dogs.  Consume or dispose of human food before entering.  Leave pet treats you may have with you attached to the fence top in airlock area and retrieve when leaving.  This includes pet treats brought for training purposes.

No Smoking Within the Dog Park - cigarette butts can be harmful to dogs if swallowed.

Children - under 12 years of age must be under close adult supervision.

Leashing & Unleashing - should take place in the airlock area.  Do not bring your dog into the off leash play area while still on a leash.

Pinch, Prong, or Spiked Collars - must be removed before your dog enters the off leash play area.

Dogs in Heat - are absolutely not allowed.  This can cause fighting among other dogs.

Rabies/Addison Registration Tags - dogs must b e wearing a current rabies/Addison registration tag.

Other Inoculations - for things such as kennel cough, parvo, etc. must be current.Addison Dog Park

Illnesses, Diseases & Parasites - are something your dog should be free of if using the dog parks.  Refrain from bringing your dog into the off leash play area until such health issues are resolved.

Aggressive Dogs - are not allowed.  Should aggressive behavior occur, owner must remove their dog immediately so that the dog experiences that such behavior results in the removal of park privilege.

Disposal of Fecal Material - is your responsibility.  Socialization and human interaction is no excuse for not noticing fecal material deposited by your dog.  Scoopers and receptacles are provided.

Waiver of Liability - use of the dog parks is at your own risk.  Owner waives liability to the Town of Addison and the owners of other dogs using the parks for any injury or damage caused by a pet when using the off leash dog parks.

Doggonit, wait are you waiting for?  Take the pooch for a walk and head on over to one of Addison's dog parks!

Thanks for the description of the dog parks in Addison. I have just moved into Addison and I am really glad that there are dog parks in Addison. Since I am new to this area, it would be very helpful and useful for others to be able to find the trails and roads leading to the dog parks. A map would be very beneficial. Thanks!

Great idea!  Let me see if the Parks & Rec Department has anything already published so I don't have to reinvent it.  And I heard that there may be 2 additional dog parks in the planning stages, at least one of which would be for the residents of the District A part of Addison.

Meg,

The town doesn't have any maps of trails to the dog parks, but they do have this:

Ah, Addison! Not a city, but a "town." The Town of Addison. The best place to live and work in North Texas. There's something to be said about a place that doesn't take itself too seriously. Note the exclamation point in the town's name. Here you'll find the ruminations, rants and raves of one of the town's realtors and residents.
