I was recently in Highlands Ranch, Colorado looking at real estate with a potential investor. When we came upon this little gem of a home listed for sale at $189,000 by the bank. The home was foreclosed a few months ago and the previous owner obviously took out the frustrations they had for the bank on the property. On the other hand it almost looked like the may have actually lived like this to some extent. There was a key code lock on the master bedroom door (which had been kicked in) to keep someone out.Why do people do this? How can people live like this? What do they gain from knowing hey destroyed a home to the poin that it needs a total gut and remodel?

Unfortunately this is the NORM in lower income areas and expecially in Aurora, Colorado and parts of Denver. This is by no means the first home I've seen like this nor will it be the last.

See for yourself.

NOTE: I quote the wrong price in the video.

In my area that would be considered a very nice REO property!  At least they repaired most of the holes and I noticed all of the light and electrical covers remained.

You also never know when the damage was done.  I had a property listed (duplex) not in terrible shape.  I did my property inspection one day to find a frontdoor missing, 2 windows cut out of the upstairs, both kitchens totally gutted and a large hole in the upstairs cut into the hallway to allow access to both sides of the house.

I suspect, cant prove, but assume that a contractor came in and yanked what they needed to cut costs on another property.  A police report was filed but nothing ever came of it, it was just another vacant house.

You're right about the unfortunate part, but that is what most foreclosed homes look like. The things that really bother me is when they take like 2 drawers & one cabinet from the Kitchen. Not the whole set, but just enough that the entire thing has to be replaced! It also always seems that they find what ever liquid they can & soak the carpet in it! I tell everyone that they're almost always guaranteed to have to replace carpet!
