THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS TO THE GIANT SCREEN!
Explore winter at the Putnam from 1-4pm on Sunday, January 25! Passport to the Seasons features fun winter-themed activities that are free with regular admission ($6/adults; $4/youth) and is a collaboration with Quad City Botanical Center, Figge Art Museum, Family Museum, Niabi Zoo, Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Wapsi River Environmental Education Center, University of Illinois Extension and iLivehere:myhome our community. Additionally, there will be a 4pm screening of Shackleton's Antarctic Adventure in IMAX (not included with admission). Bring the whole family for a flurry of fun!
WILD WEEKENDS! IN THE SCILAB! Visit the SciLab Saturday, January 24 from 12-2pm and see turtles, frogs, snakes and more! Find the fox snake basking in the light or see the tiger salamander camouflaged in the soil waiting for an insect to hop by. If you're not careful, you'll miss the grey tree frog that seems to disappear into its natural surroundings. Then at 2pm, you can see a fish feeding by the Museum's own Naturalist! You'll view catfish, gar and other Mississippi River fish in the Museum's 718-gallon aquarium, located in the Black Earth/Big River Exhibit Hall.
You're invited to the exhibit opening of The Climate Change Show on Saturday, January 31! Be present for the ribbon cutting at 11:00am, and join our Lunch & Learn session from 11:30am-1:30pm. Dr. Bill Gutowski of Iowa State University will present Our Changing Climate: Myths and Realities. Lunch sponsored by Jimmy John's. Free to current members, $10 for others. Limited availability. Join us on Thursday, February 5 from 11am-12pm for a FREE performance by jazz musician TJ Wheeler! TJ is a blues and jazz guitarist, vocalist, educator, and overall musical activist. As a soloist or with his band, TJ takes his audience from Delta Blues to New Orleans second line jazz to his contemporary blues and jazz original compositions. He revisits the Quad Cities to provide Blues education workshops and performances as part of the Mississippi Valley Blues Society's Artist-in-Residency Series. Held in Palmer Lecture Hall. Doors open at 10:30am. Sponsored by the Mississippi Valley Blues Society.
