How Can I Print an AR Blog?

By
Education & Training with Sell with Soul

Can anyone help? I tried to print out some of my AR blogs for a presentation yesterday and couldn't get it done. Tried to Select the Text and then "Print Selection". Nope, didn't work. Just got a blank piece of paper. Tried, of course, to simply print the page, but got the blog printed separately from all the other clutter menu items & advertising.

Is there a Print Me command somewhere I'm not seeing?

Hmmmmm?? After hitting the print screen button, did you open word and then select paste to put it onto a new document?

hmm.  On my Vista computer, all I have to do is right click on my mouse and a menu comes up with "print".  I can then include the frames or exclude them and print out the entire blog with the AR banners, et al.  Sorry to hear that you are having such a tough time.  And I'm glad that you know how to cut and past (LOL).

Jennifer, Try saving the page.  Under file, save as, (either make a special folder before hand, or save to my documents).  Remember what you name it.  After that, you should be able to open it and print it.  Hope this works for you.

Sorry, JA, no help from me...but I think the comment above mine (which I would have deleted, too...darn spammers!) says it all...and then some!  LOL  You certainly do have a large and varied group of followers, my dear!

Good luck with the printing thing... :-)

At the very least you can try to do a screen capture. With a Mac it's simple and comes out nicely not sure on a PC how it will work especially if it's a long blog.

Duhhhh?????  I am not connected to my printer right now, but doing what Weicher Realty suggests seems to be an alternative.  Right clicking on the page does give you a print command and it will probably do the job.  Ah OHHH!!! I might have learned something!  Later today I will connect to my printer and try printing to see if it will actually accomplish the task.  Probably will.

Gosh, I feel like an idiot. My Print Screen command does NOTHING - i mean NOTHING - nothing happens on my computer. When I "Saved As" as per Bob, my computer locked up. I have XP and I don't think it does that fancy VIsta stuff!

Listen closely now, move away from your computer.  No sudden movements.  Just move slowly away, keep your eyes focused and tilt your head so you are not looking directly into its eyes in a confrontational manner.  It could attack if it feels you are challenging it!  I am sure you would win the confrontation but having to purchase a new computer after the fight really isn't worth it. Just back slowly away.....

Jennifer, I just tried it... "Ctrl P" works, but this blog printed out in 5 pages.. (comments and all)

Give that a shot.

I think I would probably go for the cut and paste routine

Okay, I sorta did it... I went into the page, and hit Print Preview. Selected "Shrink to Fit" and then Print - Page 1 only. It printed out with the Active Rain logo & my picture... not gorgeous, but not bad.

I think AR should put this in their next upgrade...

OMG!!!  Aaron, you are a crack up.  I love laughing my head off this early in the morning (9am here in SoCA).  Jennifer, I feel like you sometimes when someone is explaining something to me, step by step and my computer isn't cooperating.  Technology sometimes - AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

Anyway, thx for the lesson everyone.  Have a great day and good luck on your presentation Jennifer.  :)

Hi gang - just remember if you do print screen into a word document or hit control P the printer window should appear.  Before you hit print you can select how many pages you want printed out.  So if there is 1 or 2 pages for the AR blog and the rest are comments that you don't want to print just select pages 1-2 and that's all you'll get.

However - AR G-ds if you are listening and I think I will email a few of you.  It would be really cool to have a option to print out these blogs, where there is a print page button you can push that will create a printable version hopefully with the AR banner on top.  I don't see why we shouldn't be able to have this - the NY times does and actually most papers and magazines online that give free access to readers allow this.  It shouldn't be any different for AR, especially if they make sure that the person who composed the blog gets the credit.

Jennifer, in case no one answered this ... there are so many comments my eyes are crossing ...

The print screen button simply copies the content of the screen ... then you need to open a program (Word works just fine for this)  and hit Edit->Paste  ...  then you'll have it....

However you will only have the portion of the blog visible on the screen.

The program, Snagit has a scrolling window capture feature that I find I use more and more often.

Cheryl - OOOOOH! I see - when I print screen - I'm just copying the screen onto the clipboard???? I SO didn't get that piece!

Aaron - you're a funny guy. And I followed your advice and Stepped     Away     From    The    Computer. I love it!

Jennifer I did not read all of the comments, but I did go to "My Blogs" went up to the tool bar, clicked on "File", scrolled down to "Print" and told it to print and it printed all the blogs on that ActiveRain page, ActiveRain log and all.

Now having said that I use "Firefox" and not "Internet Explorer", so I don't know if it works that way on both.

Since I write all of my posts in word first they are already saved and ready for me to print.  I've created a template with my logo that goes at the bottom of the page and add the date it was printed.
Easy to do and makes the post look professional to be included in a listing portfolio.
