Indigo Gone from the Clearwater Beach, Florida Color Palette

Clearwater Beach, Florida - Yesterday it was announced that the Indigo Beach Residence & Suites, a new Clearwater Beach real estate condo development to be built on the site of the old Adam's Mark Hotel on south Clearwater Beach is the latest casualty in the changing real estate market.

They announce that the Indigo Beach Residence & Suites been canceled.

All Indigo condo deposits are now being returned to the would-be buyers of the Indigo condos on south Clearwater Beach. This is just another sign that with all the recent Clearwater and Tampa Bay condo conversions, the new condo developments, skyrocketing insurance rates and high property taxes, especially for those that don't qualify for our homestead exemption - Clearwater Beach condo prices have risen to a level that are out of reach for most at over $600,000 on average compared to the mid $300,000s just 2-3 years ago.

There is talk of attracting a signature hotel to this fabulous piece of Clearwater Beach real estate - the benefit to Clearwater Beach would be an influx of tourist and tourtist dollars year round - this is a great financial engine to Clearwater's tourist driven economy.

The St Petersburg Times, our local Pinellas County paper. did an excellent article in November and it's still true today: condo dreams have dried up on Clearwater Beach, Florida at least for now.

Nine projects totaling $1.4 Billion were schedule but now only the Marquesas condo project is on schedule the rest have been delayed or cancelled.

Enchantment on Clearwater Beach - condo project;

WOW Cyndee, is there ANYTHING you Don't know about clearwater? I don't think you sleep! I hope your other clients appreciate you as much as I do! :-)

Cyndee - there was further speculation today that Taylor Woodrow withdrew Indigo because they were anticipating the county approving higher density for hotels, and perhaps generating a better return from a hotel than from condos.

The Marquesas, which is continuing, is another JMC development - and Mike Cheezem has been very successful with his condo developments. It's an advantage to deal with a local builder with a great product and a great reputation and track record.

Sharon - thanks for your comments - Anything they can do to offer more tourist accomodations at this point I belive would be good for Clearwater Beach - not to mention have it would be better because it would cut down on the need for as much beach parking - many tourists don't have cars since they can walk when they're on the beach versus short and long term residents are much more likely to bring a car with them.

What have you heard about the Karan Grand and Aqualea? Do you think they will share the same fate as Indigo? What about Marquesas? I know they are building it but sales have been slow.
