Home Ownership - Who Does a Home Owner Turn To for Help After the Closing

Hi everyone, I continue to watch this great community grow and I'm learning so much from all of you. I just wish that the community could grow to be more inviting to other businesses that support home owners after they buy their home, and before they prepare to sell it.

Who Helps Home Owners Maintain & Enhance Their Homes?

As the owner of My Handyman, I often begin my presentations by asking one/more of these questions:

• How many take their cars in for periodic checkups? and how do you know when to do this?
• How many of you get an annual physical with your doctor? and who told you this is important?

The reason I'm talking about this topic ... is I'm working day & night to prepare to launch a new business that will talk to the Life Cycle of Home Ownership.

You are all home owners (or will be soon) and yet how much do you know about the multiple systems that must all function properly to provide your families and your clients homes with healthy, safe and comfortable homes? Very few of us have the breadth of knowledge to know when it's time to replace a roof, how to visually inspect your home's exterior to find siding or trim that is deteriorating. You get the idea.

What I would greatly appreciate is for everyone to help me guide my new business by sharing with me, and I in turn will share back with you:

• What types of gifts do you gift new home owners?
• What type of support do you provide your buyers after the closing, i.e. some realtors will share their rolodex of trusted contractors? some realtors send monthly newsletters?
  
• What home maintenance books do you like? recommend to your clients? for home maintenance and repairs?
• What ways do you use to reconnect with your clients every year?
• What web sites do you like? recommend to your clients? for home maintenance and repairs.
  
• How valuable would you find 3 to 5 page reports on topics like Home Energy, Green Homes or Home Safety for Your Family? reports that you could share with your clients?

PLEASE share with me the topics, tools and all great ideas that we collectively can provide to home owners, to strengthen our client relationships.
