Where are we heading? Franchises or Independents?

Just read an article about the future of real estate brokerages and they are projecting that there will be more independent agencies. Unless the franchises keep the agent front and center on the internet, the agent will leave and promote himself or herself

Using AR and Facebook is one of the steps agents take to promote themselves on the internet but it also helps me to learn from others. I work for an independent broker and it is up to me to make my presents known in the market and to find out how to do this. So THANKS everyone!

I spend at least 3 hours in a day prospecting either on the internet, out in the field or emailing past contacts. I send out 1 newsletter each month, plus wishes for what ever holiday, is in that month. My office is me!

Less than half of all the licensees in the US are in any MLS.  Lots of independents already.

The age of the big office is going away.  Independants will dominate their local markets.  This is and always will be a relationship business.  I firmly believe that if you cultivate a client they will follow you where ever you go.

Valerie, we do follow the Keller Williams 33 touch model. We do monthly mailings to our database, postcards, phone calls, emails, etc....and end up contacting our database 33 times throughout the year. It does make a difference to have ongoing contact with people who know you. FSBOS and expired are the best for immediate business but for the long term, constantly marketing our sphere works for us.

I have been researching franchises for awhile.  And the more info I get the more an independent firm is looking better to me.  With the on set of the internet and all the computer software there is really not that many reasons why you can't start your own company.
