I can't get the time to log in to Facebook throughout the day but I want to know what my friends are up to. Logging in at the end of the day requires me to browse through perhaps 100 updates. I get lost. I get behind.

Well what did I find today?

Facebook provides an RSS  feed for your friend statuses. This allows you to see all updates to Facebook without having to log in or keep Facebook open.

Log in to Facebook.
Click on ‘Friends'.
In the left-hand column you will find a ‘Subscribe to this feed' option.
Click on the link and you will be taken to the feed page.
Click on the subscription link and voila, you've got a feed.

Now how do you view your feed?

There are several ways but probably the easiest will be through Internet Explorer. You know how to access your favorites? That's how you get your feeds as well. Click on your little Favorites star and then click on the orange ‘Feeds' icon. That will display the feeds you are subscribed to. Click on the Facebook Status Feed and you will be taken to the list of all updates.

I'm just starting to use Facebook and I'll try this.  It's interesting to see what everybody else is doing.

I love Facebook but am more addicted to Twitter so I don't get into Facebook as often as I should. This helps me stay on top of the hourly updates :) Hope it makes your life easier.

Renee -

In today's Web 2.0 world, you learn something new every day.  Thanks for sharing - I'll check this out, and subscribe to the feed.

I was thinking the same thing you were - and often want to bypass the ad-nauseum video postings, passed drinks, hugs and kisses, pokes, and the like.

It's so difficult to keep up with all the options and features of so many networking sites. Thanks for sharing your discovery.

Judy - Glad I could help! It's always fun to learn new technology and networking apps but it sure does take some time. Productivity apps make it even better :)

Troy - Arizona? You make me jealous. That is my dream.

I will check it out.  I don't get to Facebook that often, usually only when I'm notified someone wants to add me as a friend.  This would give me more access. Thanks.

I knew how to do that but I would like to RSS my facebook "recently updated" section, not only my friends "status updates"

Any ideas?

Aron - there is not a way to subscribe to the recently udpated. There isn't a feed provided for that yet. Sorry!

Thanks for this great post.  I end up searching through so many status updates learning that my friends are sleeping in or the most popular, cleaning the house.  But I still check.
