We are family

My first post after being off AR for so long...I hardly know where to start...I have so many to thank! I'll be doing another one some to name so of the most loyal friends I have here on the Rain, but wanted to just say how much ALL of you mean to me. This would be the perfect place to put the song, "We Are Family", however my main computer is in the shop. Plus I'm still getting used to all the changes on AR, WOW! Just when I was getting to where everything was, I'm gone for a couple of months and they changed everything without consulting me!!! That's just wrong :).

I wish I could just wave a majic wand and take us all here for a few weeks of group hugs & thanks!

One thing that has not changed is the beautiful people here on active rain! When I started reading all the notes, comments, card, and encouragement everyone left me on Judis' post, and on my post (Money Doesn't Grow On Trees...Does It?), that Marchel wrote a post to direct everyone too. Well I'm glad no one was here seeing me laugh and cry to my computer, they might have locked me up for good! It was so wonderful to know after all the time I was gone you did not forget me. There were many prayers said for me as well, and they worked. My friends in the Rain rain you are the best second family in the world to me.

Thank you is not the right thing to say but will have to do for now...Thank you all it meant the world to me. Marchel was tireless in her efforts to update everyone, keep our group up to speed, call me at the hospitals, she even went in and answered some of the comments to my posts. Judi also wrote a post that messages were left on also and called to check on me several times. There literally were hundreds of messages, I think Dale left one everyday :). After 29 days in the hospital it sure was nice to read them all. You guys are INCREDIBLE, and kind beyond words!

My Texas Real Estate group was in very capable hands...another thanks to Marchel for that too. We are now over 500 members and rank # 21 out th thouslands of groups now on AR. Time for another contest? Let me know what you would like to base our contest on and I'll get started right away! Maybe "Best Hospital in your town"? ...I have a great entry for that as well as the "Worst Hospital", but we want to stay positive, right?

The Friendship Ball was rolled to me so I need to get busy on that one, it will be a long list. Thanks again for everything and I'll be by to visit everyone soon. Love Liz

I guess I need a "dashboard" too :). I had a rough day today, woke up with 102.7 fever, got it down to normal late this afternoon with Tylenol. I keep running a low grade and this is the first time it's been that high. Doctors keep telling me my body has been through a lot, and it will take a long time for full recovery. Damn I hate that :), just hope its nothing serious again! I'll be by to see you, L

I've missed your outrageous post that always make me laugh :). Is the post about the big boobed realtor getting your listing still going on? Boy what a fun couple of days that post turned out to be!

No...of course no one told me you said hi, they barely tell me when anyone calls and whatever. Seems they are all too busy.

Thank God for a Team, systems, procedures and 32 years of past clients...we still ended up closing 130 transactions this year. Our goal was 160, but with me out most of the year I'ld say they did a damn fine job of doing what I've trained them to do

Hi Gail...

I'm very happy to be back also. 2008 was not my year for health, although I feel blessed by so many things and will write a post on that soon.

Basically the first thing was I learned I had Hepatitis C and my liver was very damaged. They started treatment on (it has very bad side effects and I do think that it had a lot to do with everything since then).

2nd came being put in the hospital for a lung virus, which still is not right. However during that stay my Liver doctor took me off the treatment after 10 weeks, saying it was affecting my immune system and more too much. I was supposed to stay on the liver treatment for 36 weeks, after 3 weeks my blood test showed that the hepatitis C virus was no loner in my blood. They call that a rapid responder. However almost always they insist you complete the treatment because the virus can hide and get back in your blood system if you stop! There is a 50% chance it will come back but my body could not take it, + there is that 50% it will never come back...I'm going with that one.

A few weeks after that we went to the lake house and the next day I started having excruciating pains in my abdomen, by day 2 I was forced to go to the local "hospital" and my appendix had ruptured, plus there was no time to get to Houston, the doctor said I would be dead, and was surprised I wasn't already. So off to the operating room. Day 5 this doctor comes in and said there were some implications and he needed to operate again. NO WAY was I staying there since this time was not life or death...away I go in an ambulance to St Lukes and my wonderful skilled doctors. They also took me straight to the operating room. It was another 3 1/2 hour surgery, cleaned out all the infection that had gotten released throughout the rest of my body, took out half of my Colon, and removed some of my small bowels that were attached to my pelvic.

I had to spend 3 days in IC on a respirator because the were afraid I might not be able to come off it because of my lung condition. Needless to say I did thank God. Total of 29 days in the hospital and now I'm home still recovering.

I'm feeling better every week, so keep you fingers crossed...no more illness.

So not only am I glad to be back on AR, but I'm glad to be alive so I can. I'll be by to see you soon, Liz

Liz- Thank you so much for taking the time to tell me....and others who care, what you went through. It's all very surreal, feeling fine one day and then whammo...at death's door the next. I can imagine that you're low on energy right now, so please don't try to catch up too fast - you'll do much better on the slow and steady course.

In part you can thank your scuba days for building your stamina, which no doubt, helped you win the war on your body. It sounds like your appendix was the terrible culprit for that last bout! Did the doctor who did the appendectomy not realize that the venom was loose in your system? What a nightmare. How is your lung function now? Don't answer here, I'll wait for your post. I'm just happy you're home, have a great support system in place, and have the ability to take it easy for now. Welcome back, I'll call you later today to fill you in on the picture question. I'm so glad you are feeling better. Like Gail said, just take it slow and easy. We've got lots of time to catch up and we want you completely well. You've been through so much and we are all so thankful you have pulled through it all. You are a strong person and an inspiration to all of us. I feel the love :) I'm still having to be on oxygen 24/7 and will be really happy to get my lungs back in condition to be released from "my tube". I've got a 50' extension on it, which takes me through most of the house, and of course my portable backpack when I leave the house.

It was really funny at Christmas, the kids were using the tubing to play jump rope! My I should try that too. And Rhett follows me so close he is always getting caught up in it, so he will be almost as happy as me to be done with that part. Stay out of that pool!!! Love Ya, Liz

Liz, I just asked someone the other day where you were. I had no idea you had been so sick. I"m so sorry to have just learned about your struggles. I've really missed you here, Queen! We need to have a party at King's when you feel up to it. That was SO much fun, wasn't it? So we stirred the pot a bit...it was worth it, lol.

I remember the day the teams were picked for the Makeover2Takeover contest and I called you. That was the first time we had ever talked.

Active Rain is just so full of great people....I might shed a few tears myself after reading all the wonderful comments for this and several other post. Taking it easy and feeling much better. The hardest thing to get over were the two back to back abdominal surgeries and the incisions have all healed within the last week and no more pain. That was the 29 day in hospital stay in Nov. This last week was a cake walk, just pneumonia and only there a week :) on antibiotics for eight more days, but starting walking Rhett today...he missed his mommy and his walks around the lake.

Health is your true wealth, and I wish all of you the best health of your lives in 2009! Love Liz
