I got a phone call early this morning as I got off my bus route that really surprised me and got me to thinking all at the same time.  So many times one of the last things that I like to stay to a person is "Have a great day"  and that is what I said to my father-in-law as we got ready to hang up.  His response surprised me.  He said "Don't worry kido, I plan to, I always chose to have a great day!"

I got to thinking about him, his general outlook on life, and why that might be?  He's almost always happy, easy going, ready to help, makes people smile, and never meets a stranger.  He wakes up in the morning and the first thing he does is choose to have a great day.

So when you woke up this morning, what was you thinking? Was you already planning to have a great day?  I must admit "I didn't think about having a great day, I thought about all I needed to do, but having a GREAT day was not one of them."  I think I'm going to change the way I start my morning from now on.  Won't you join me in having a great day?  Which in return will turn into an absolutely GREAT year!

My motto has always been, MAKE it a great day!  It IS all in our attitude and our perspective.

Bonnie, we DO choose to have a good day....or not...don't we.  Along with the aging process, has come a deeper appreciation for each and every day that I awaken.  The 24-hour cycle is truly a gift. Why not make it a good one? Thanks for the terrific blog.

Awesome, thanks for sharing. I always end all my face to face with Have a good one, but after reading your post and the comments from fellow Rainers I think I'm going to end all my phone conversations and emails with it. Why not, why shouldn't we have the mind set to have a great day and why shouldn't we wish the same for every one we come into contact with.

Thank you again for the thought provocking post.

You have a really great day!

Susan,  It's amazing how funny it struck me this morning when he said that.  I'm usually very optomistic, but it really got me to thinking about my very first thoughts, and seeing as how I drive a school bus, sometimes those thoughts are on the weather and things.  I am changing my thinking!  Thanks for stopping by and BTW "Have a GREAT Weekend!"

Roseann, it is amazing how our perspectives change as we get older.  Things that use to seem so important now seem so trivial and other things have moved up the list.  There is a country song out that says something about "Live like you we're Dying"  what a concept.  Thanks for stopping by and BTW "Have a GREAT Weekend!"

Jen,  You know smiles are contagious, and so is the saying have a great day.  I think I'm going to give some people the "Have a great day" bug.  lol  Have a great weekend.

We've got one rental Owner who, when asked the obligatory "how are you" always answers "I'm havin' the best day of my life" and sounds like he means it. It makes me laugh, and then it makes me think, and it cheers me up.

What a neat person to have in your life. Tell him I said 'hi' and that his cheery outlook reached all the way out west! I'm a positive, happy person, too. It makes life so much easier and fun!! -S

I wake up and decide that I am going to take on the joy of Jesus; there's no greater joy than that.

"...for the joy of the LORD is your strength." (Nehemiah 8:10)

Be blessed!

Leslie, I like that gentleman, he would make my day also.  Smile and the whole world smiles with you, frown and you frown alone.  I like smiling.  Have a great weekend.

Steve,  to be honest, before I knew the Lord I was quite grumpy and David would sometimes go the doghouse willingly, lol, now I know that Jesus that has all changed and you're right there is no greater joy or peace.  I really like the way he (Jesus) filled up the empty and dry places in my life.

Hi everyone! Thanks for the invitation so much. I will try to come back as soon as possible. ;). I am from Portugal and also am speaking English, please tell me right I wrote the following sentence: "A side panel of a retired apple power mac has been turned into a clock and sold on etsy, the online shop for hand made and one off." Thank you very much :P. Serendipity.
