Top 10 Things I Love About Whittier

Wednesday evening Family Fair.  Runs March - October.

Farmers Market, every Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.  Runs March - October.

Whittier Area Genealogical Society (WAGS).  If you are a family genealogist, you will love WAGS.  It has regular meetings, as well as day-long annual meetings, all about genealogy.  The next annual meeting will be February 28, 2009, featuring speaker Curt B. Witcher, who will talk about genealogical research in libraries, Census and the Internet.

The Rio Hondo College Lifelong Fitness Center.  If you pay for 4 semesters, membership in the Fitness Center is FREE for the rest of your life.  Where else can you get such a deal in a health club membership?

Vinatero Wine Shop.  It's like the Whittier version of the local "Cheers" bar, where fans of wine and beer hang out in the evening.

Location, Location, Location.  Whittier is centrally located.  Whether you want to go to downtown Los Angeles or east to the San Bernardino mountains, Whittier is smack-dab right in the middle of the Southland.

Uptown.  Great shops, restaurants, parades, Craftsman architecture, cultural events, museums.

Monte's Camera Shop.  In addition to modern digital photography, they still provide professional service and advice to film photographers.  A great family-owned business.

Little Old Bookshop.  It's an old-fashioned bookshop, where you can still buy and sell used books, and find something to read in just about any category.  Unlike the chain bookstores, it is another locally-owned business.

Variety of Homes.  From Craftsman homes in the Historic District, to upscale homes in Friendly Hills, to view homes in Spyglass Hill, to neighborhoods anchored around city parks, such as Palm Park, Michigan Park, Parnell Park and York Park, Whittier real estate comes in every imaginable style.

What do you love about Whittier?
