The Path to Success

By
Real Estate Agent with Carolina One Real Estate

Our broker-in-charge brought in a speaker this week to our office meeting. Of course, the speaker was pitching a motivational seminar for $499 and if you signed up that day you got it fro $399 - not to fond of that catch myself. However, the speaker had some real good points. One overview that I thought fit perfectly in today's crazy real estate market is below.

1. DREAM

2. STRUGGLE

3. PERSEVERE

4. SUCCESS

I am guessing most people are in the # 2 & 3 areas right now with this market. I think those who can stick with it, push through, work harder and get better will succeed in amazing ways in these times where the others will drop out of the business. The best rises to the top in these times. Are you the best?

I seen where Charleston ranked high on the best place to buy and sell real estate. Maybe I need some beach time.

Our BIC brought in a motivational speaker this week too.  Only his talk was about Getting Back to Basics.   I got a lot out of that.  #1 being good Customer Service.   I was happy to see that I was on top of the game with my business planning at the first of the year, sending out cards, making calls, etc.  Good luck in 09 and don't waste your money on seminars.  I learned more from AR and CRS classes.

Most agents I talk to are between #2 and #3. With hard work and persistence we can look forward to #4. I'm sure the person selling seminars is also have a difficult time. Thanks.

At any one time, my Marketing & Business Consulting clients might be in any of those four stages, but #2 and #3 as worded here sound too negative for me. I have six stages for me and my Clients' businesses:

  1. Dream
  2. Plan
  3. Startup
  4. Growth
  5. Maintenance
  6. Retire

The Maintenance phase means a consistent rate of growth whereas the Growth phase of a business is often explosive if the Plan and Startup were done right.

Retire can also include selling the company and taking the cash.

Nice change to the wording Russel - I try to focus on the positive as well.

... nicely put Randall. Maybe by understanding those 4 steps it will help some have faith that the 'struggle & perseverence' may just be part of the process, and they shouldnt get too demoralized - as success can still be achieved !

Nice succinct post ! I like it !

Cheers !

Thanks for the comment Sheldon - I think we all forget that most good things are not easily gotten otherwise, everything would have them

Words of wisdom for sure. I love the addage..."Pressure Makes Diamonds." We are currently under pressure but we must persevere to achieve success.
