Benson's Fire Department Mission Statement
The primary mission of the Town of Benson Fire Department is to provide excellent fire protection during emergency responses, to prevent injury, and to protect property and the environment. We also provide vehicle extrication to accident victims and public fire education to children and adults. The Benson Fire Department will strive to maintain the highest level of protection for those living, working, or traveling through our district. The Benson Fire Department has one full time employee and 35 dedicated volunteers.
Then they go the extra mile. Benson is a small town that everyone seems to be connected in some way. We may not see or talk to our neighbors every day but it is a fact...when a family is affected by something everyone shows up to help. That is the greatest thing about living in a small town. A former Fire Chief was seriously injured several months ago. His hospital bills were stacking up. The guys at the Fire Dept wanted to do something for the family. They organized a raffle that raised over $30,000. That was just 1 of many things they did for this family. When he was ready to return home from the hospital there was another problem... his home was not handicap accessible. When the town found out Tony was coming home there was so much excitement....but at the same time they realized there was work to be done. The guys at the Fire station along with lots of other volunteers started tearing out walls, doorways, re-doing the master bath, etc...
It is great to belong to such a friendly and caring community...Benson, NC.
