door knockerI'm sitting here working up my plans for tomorrow and realized that my day of rest is not going to be very restful at all!

I am waking up at 7 in the morning to go to church. Then I am spending the rest of the day outside walking neighborhoods and meeting people.

I just got a stack of new door hangers that are good for a free home warranty if they list through me and I just have been dying to give them away! In between knocking I am going to be here in the rain trying to build my web presence. I still don't know why I'm doing this as it's been nothing but an exercise in futility. At least tomorrow i'm not using any gas as I'm walking it all. There are several neighborhoods right here where I live that will be easy to walk to so I'm just glad it's going to be relatively warm tomorrow. I won't need full snow suit, just a warm jacket!

Wish me luck as I am desperate for leads. Enjoy your sunday!

Sounds like you will be getting some good exercise.  That's much more healthy than sitting in front of a keyboard.

when your walking the hoods, are you door knocking too, or just hanging tags. if your just hanging tags you can hire a temp agency to do that for you, and then you can use your time for more successful prospecting. in regards to the home warranty, are you paying for those upfront, or are you haing esrow deduct it from your commission at closing?

Doug, I am actually knocking on doors and trying to meet people. The door hangers have a place in them for me to put my business card. The home warranty actually has some qualifications to it. They are for 1st time home buyers and are offered if they usethe same company for a home inspection. But it is a way to get my face in front of potential clients and offer them "free" gifts.

Thank you everyone! It was rather productive as I met some really neat people. No clients but definitely made a few good impressions and more importantly got my face and name in front of lots of people!

Mike,

i have been doing the same thing recently trying to originate loans. i print out brochures and go door to door and i have had no luck yet. maybe its because i have only done this for a few days? or the area? your guess is as good as mine?

when i speak to the home owners all that comes to my head is, "do you have any questions about your home loan or any real estate questions?"

but its always a no. obviously I'm trying to get my foot in the door for a possible deal but sad to say that's all that comes to my mind.

how do you go about it?

i just learned about active rain and will create an account soon but get back to me at hgallardo@elyacrealty.com

next time you hit that pavement remember your not alone! even if you are.? .....wait i just confused myself!  l.o.l.  just kidding remember WE CREATE OUR OWN LUCK!!!

Hi Michael - For me, one of the hardest things about door knocking is the fear of rejection.  I haven't gone knocking yet but I made my flyers to start handing out in my farm this week.

One tip I was given to help ease my door knocking anxiety was this:  Before you leave to knock on doors, put a rubber band around your wrist.  When you feel scared or start to freeze up, just gently pull on the rubber band and let go!  It will shock you but hopefully, you'll forget about your fears too!
