This Week in Pictures [05-03-07]:

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Bryce Mohan Photography

There's a wide variety of work this week, both commercial and residential properties. As usual there was zero sun and the light was lifeless and diffuse (thank you again Seattle weather *mutter*). Any blue sky or bright colors you see outside are artificial (check out the comparison a few shots down of the before and after).

I've even thrown in a shot of some multi unit housing in the middle of a remodel (how do you make that look artistic exactly?). I tried to bring out some interesting lines via composition but frankly...well, it's torn up walls and stuff. :)  These were before shots...I'll head back a second time to shoot the finished product.

I had an interesting incident when shooting a residential property this week. This was for one of my clients that hires a photographer for every listing, she also frequently hires a stager for homes...even occupied homes (as was the case here). Basically my dream client (*grin*). Anyway, the stager had told the home owner that 'the photographer won't bother to organize anything so we have to get it right prior to their arrival'. As a result the homeowner was confused when I moved a few things here or there as was my preference for the shot.

The funny thing is the stager is probably correct in most instances. Most real estate photographers are folks with basic skills and basic equipment who don't really work to compose shots (in fact this is a complaint I here from realtors who are switching over to me).

Please feel free to critique or ask questions.

:)

Cheers, -B

Don, take a look at the link below. Scroll down through the comments. There's a pretty decent overview on how I achieve the look of my photos.

Bryce - These are fantastic as usual.  The faux blue sky is killer!!!  I'm going to learn how to do that someday.  Can yo make those adjustments with Photoshop Elements of do you have to get the professional version?

I need to come back to this one?  I think the photo are fabulous.  Is there anyone out there that sees "some" staging issues.

I gotta go grab my kids, I will come back again and comment. MMMm, I am big on composition.  I don't understand photography that well, but composition, I have a handle on and would love a conversation on this.

i got a new wide angle camera for $200.. and its great for appraising. how wide is the one you're using in those interior shots? mine is 23mm (the smaller number, right?).

i just giggled when i started tinkering with the camera and noticed it has that grid that divides the screen into thirds :) i remember your post from a while back :))   keep em coming.

Wow, if sellers knew what was an option for them...how to spread that word? You're doing it beautifully right here :)

You did post this in WA localism, right? Oh I hope so.

I love the tones... They look so natural. Do you use a Mac or Windows pc?

I love the lighting in the first picture.... Spectacular!!

I'm wondering if a wider angle lens taken from a closer range and standing on a ladder for the shot could have made the house's in pictures 5 & 6 driveway appear less steep?  Just curious...
