Builders, build the rooms to size and.....

Twice today, I have gone into nice homes with great layouts only to find that either the living room was too small or the master bedroom was not built to size. The first home had a nice sized kitchen with a small bar but there was really no place for the dining room table to sit. If you had a dining table it would have to be situated literally right in front of the back door which in turn would take up part of the living room area. Next, there was an extremely small living room that had barely enough room for a TV, much less a sofa and recliner. I guess you're suppose to get a fold out chair and sit in it.

The second home was in a good location, convenient to a University, etc. As I walked in, the beautiful hardwoods stretched from the foyer into a large family room, down the halls, and into each of the three bedrooms. Upstairs was all carpeted and done quite tastefully. As I walked into the Master bedroom, the awful yellow walls were bad enough. After-all, those could be repainted. However, the bedroom was on slightly larger than the other two bedrooms. The master bath was wide enough to stand in and certainly long enough but I could hardly turn around because it was so narrow.

Attention builders: I believe the general public, including myself, has a great deal of respect for your craftsmanship, skill, and capabilities, but please stop wasting a good home with rooms that just don't fit. We all could be more profitable, including the buyers, if the homes that you are building fit the needs of the consumer.
