Cell phone popcorn?

People read all sorts of interesting things on the internet and run with it. They tell all their friends and even post them on their blog posts.

Here is a perfect example of a hoax that had several people upset.

I apologize for the 20 second ad before the feature but CNN has to pay the bills.

I think this cell phone popcorn has already made the rounds on Active Rain at some point. I know I saw the You Tube Video, and about the only place I click on video links is on Active Rain.

I remember seeing that video.  I think it was horrible for them to put that scare tactic in there.  They said they weren't trying to do that, but, I am sure that's what most people got from it.

Dear Paul,

Thanks for unveiling the hoax. I fell for it. Didn't even think of buying a BlueTooth.

Now for the commercial. Is there a pill for a commissionectomy?

I have been getting a lot of mileage about your analog clock story.

Thanks,

Barbara

Paul,

I don't know, sometimes I'm on the cell phone so much, I think my head is full of popcorn.

Paul~

At first I thought... that can't be true and then... maybe... Obviously an optical illusion. Very funny!

Hi Paul,

When the video was first making the rounds a bunch of us tested it at the office (where else can you get so many cell phones in one room?). Of course it didn't work but it was a riot and I'm glad nobody thought to check the truthfulness of it on the web before our experiment.  It was a great "ad" I think - sure created a buzz.

I watched that video of the popcorn months ago.  Figured it was a hoax, but never really tried to prove it myself.

Hi Paul, We see things online everyday and they are passed on as believable. I see it with my teenagers.  They all pass this stuff off as true.  No one ever seems to question the validity of any of it.  Have we just become a gullible nation?
