"He who devotes sixteen hours a day to hard study may become at sixty as wise as he thought himself at twenty. "
Mary Wilson Little
It's funny how little things will just pop up as you're thinking about them...I just came across this "so true" quote after having a serious discussion with my 14 year old son, Jeffrey, about life and his future plans.
He is my worrier and once he gets started on something....he gets obsessed. Right now his thing is college and career. Yes, I know he is just 14 and in middle school but his mind is always reeling.
Sometimes I surprise myself with the little bits of wisdom that come out of my mouth when speaking to my kids. That must be the help of the little angel that follows me around. Anyway, relative to the quote, I told Jeffrey that if you asked many adults that if they could have changed something from their past more than half would say they would work harder on their education.
My wisdom of thought for Jeffrey in our conversation was that there are many things in life that can be taken away, material possesions such as cars and homes, loved ones such as pets, friends and family members, and even parts of your physical body such as an arm and a leg but the one thing that no one can take from you is the knowledge you acquire throughout the years. That "knowledge" is yours for as long as you want it.
Go forth and learn.
