We've all heard the saying "Don't sweat the small stuff ... and it's all small stuff." While in day to day life that may be true and we should all strive to keep focused on the big picture and let small interruptions and inconveniences fall away like water off the proverbial duck's back, in the business of Real Estate we know that we must live be a different credo. In fact, the most successful agents are the ones who sweat the small stuff every day and who sweat it BIG. What do I mean?
Small stuff - chatting to a stranger in line at the supermarket and giving him a business card. Small stuff - asking everyone we know if anyone THEY know is ready to buy or sell right now. Small stuff - sending handwritten thank you cards after a first meeting with a new prospect. Small stuff - having coloring books and crayons in the car for children on long days of showings. Small stuff indeed, but it's the stuff folks remember and lead them to refer us to their friends and family by saying "I know this great Realtor - you'll never believe what he/she did for me!" But there's even more small stuff to worry about - like making sure you're doing everything possible to get your listings the exposure they need in the current market.
If you're not sure that you're doing everything possible for your listings than you're probably not. For example, there are a myriad websites for promoting listings - so how do you take advantage of them and make sure yours are getting viewed as many times by as many buyers as possible? You sweat the small stuff. I hear what you're saying... "I don't have TIME to sweat all that small stuff!" And if you're good at what you do, that's probably true. That's where I come in. Yup. Call this a shameless plug for my Virtual Assistant company - that's exactly what this is! Markelle, Danielle & I and our team of virtual genies will magically sweat that small stuff for you - and you'll reap the benefits of happier more satisfied clients, which of course leads to ... more clients! And isn't that what we all want?
Charles O. Finley said "Sweat plus sacrifice equals success." So keep on sweating the small stuff - it really does make a difference!
