Water Restrictions Continue for
Lincoln County ~ North Carolina
drought flower

Just a reminder to everyone in Lincoln County our water restrictions that were put in place about two years ago, do to the drought of 2007 that brought a 18” below normal rainfall are still in effect even though we have been getting a lot of rain at times.

There are several factors as to why we have been told that we need to continue the restrictions. Various reasons given are that forecasters are predicting a dry winter, the water supply still hasn’t recouped from the drought, and the western part of the county hasn’t seen substantial rainfall as the eastern part.

So the county is asking people, who need to, only water their lawns two days a week and to continue to conserve when possible.

Yikes, Teresa!  It's really bizarre to me still, that I live in the deserts of Arizona, and yet we have no water rationing of any kind.  Never have!  Of course, we get most of our water from the Colorado River via canals, but when I read of your drought, it amazes me.  Whatever you do, don't go out and wash your car today!   ;-)

We don't have formal restrictions here but we have to conserve like you do their in North Carolina.  Probably for the same reasons that we have here....Our reservoirs are not up to the level they should be.

Teresa.. Drought last year?  Too bad we couldn't send some to you.  We had so much rain that we had flooding.  Go figure?  Hopefully this summer you will get enough rain to fill those basins.
