What is the most common combination of words consumers use to find properties? I know it's sort of like giving your opponents the key to the city but is it the city first, then "real estate" or "real estate" and then the city, or what?

My partner says he'd type, "Homes for sale in Omaha" but Google doesn't care if it's a complete sentence! I say, "Real Estate, Omaha" with a comma. But actually, before I was involved in this project, I said "Homes for sale, Omaha"

no commas. The most common real estate key word is your city and the word real estate like omaha real estate. You can find out more in detail if you use the https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

There is probably nothing more accurate than that. But you can see what has the most traffic, the most used phrases etc. Just put the word real estate in for instance and see what it shows.

Those are generally the most common 2 phrases for real estate but you have to check your own numbers. Use the suggestion tool to see what other phrases are popular.

I agree with Shane.  City State Real Estate is probable searched most often.  I would also try City State Homes For Sale.

Stephen ~ I have always assumed (and I think it's so) that the most common search is [city] real estate.  It's certainly the way I would do the search. That being said there are a lot of people out there searching with much longer phrases for all sorts of things.

Ever since I got a new computer I have been fixing glitches, figuring things out, etc by putting in practically a full sentence that describes my problem.  I've been amazed to find that I can get my answer successfully in almost every case using the reallllly looooong search term.  It showed me that there are a lot of people who enter search terms that way rather than the short, concise way.  Opens up a lot of possibilities!

What i was trying to point out is there is no guessing at all involved in this. You can use that tool and literally check the search volume per month for any phrase you want. They do key word suggestions and once you put in a few main phrases viola you have any phrase imaginable and whether or not someone is searching for it and how often and total volume. You dont have to guess! Its all there for you just put it in and see what it says for your city.

Not a real estate professional but a computer pro. Used Oakland homes for sale when I searched for mine. Real estate is too broad in many markets; 'home' zeroes in.

Thanks for the response, Sarah. We're going for "Omaha Open Houses" since we're advertising that, but have a way to go in that category!  Good to hear from you!

Consumers use the internet to shop for homes. When they find an agent, do they all STOP shopping online? Why not shop online with them? That's the premise for 4114Homes.com. Instead of taking them to 10 homes on Saturday they MIGHT be interested, send that list of 10 to them and ask which 4 they'd like to see! Consumers, have you ever pulled into a driveway for a home and said, "I don't want to see this one" without even getting out of the car? You can see the location with TWO Maps using 4114Homes.com Know before you go? Duh!
