Winter is HERE! Have you check on your property?

Winter is here!!!  It's been nice and chilly the last couple of weeks!  On the positive side, we haven't received any major precipitation.  On the not so positive side, the temps have been so cold that in some vacant businesses and homes the pipes have frozen and busted (including sprinkler systems) and then flooded the premises.  If you don't have anyone to check on your property... try and make arrangements to have it checked if you are not close by.  I showed a home this week that had been vacant for quite sometime.  Please keep in mind that this IS NOT my listing.  When I stepped into the home, there was a torrential water pour coming from the third level into the 2nd level going down into the basement.  The home is literally in ruins... all because the heat was not set to the proper levels.  PLEASE check your vacant properties or make arrangements to have it checked.

Branson is having Hot Winter Fun!  We are celebrating 50 years of live entertainment.  It's hard to believe that this sleepy little Ozarks town is now the Live Music Entertainment Capital of the world!  Click Here to see what shows are open right now!

And even though it seems as if Ozark Mountain Spring will not get here soon enough... it's one its way! Go to www.explorebranson.com for more info and a calendar of events.

Airport News -  You really do not want to miss the grand opening of our new Branson Airport!  It will take place May 8-10, 2009.  This will be the time and place for the First Annual Branson Air Show!  For more information and to purchase tickets online click here.  It is going to be one of the most exciting events all year and "yours truly" will be one of the many volunteers!  So come on out and say HI!

Ginger-I've run into similar situations recently and it was an absolute mess. Water was coming from the dishwasher, the water was turned on for inspections and someone didn't turn the water off correctly, the water saturated the carpet and seeped through down to the finished basement.

Here in the Ozarks, we typically do not have temps that remain below freezing for an extended time.  But we do receive short cold "snaps".  Some people that don't live here year round don't think that they need to winterize their property.  And given our economic times, some people are cutting corners by completely turning off the heat...BIG mistake.  However, given that you are from Michigan I don't have to tell you about winterizing.  As an agent... I consider it a part of my obiligation to my client to inform them about winterizing.  I just hope the home that I spoke of in my blog has insurance.
