Being a long time resident in Grand Rapids, I marvel at all the changes that have been made. Downtown Grand Rapids specifically has seen the best of the changes and the people are flocking to the city. And why not, with the development of all the condos - urban and luxury and the "Health Hill" as USA Today called it in their article, Grand Rapids is a vibrant city. Although it doesn't compare to the big cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle... it definitely is a mini version of big city life.
City life has its benefits. Most people that move into downtown Grand Rapids enjoy the fact that the city never really sleeps. The region's entertainment and culture are located in the heart of the city. In fact, that's what most people love - the uniqueness of the shops and restaurants and the ability to walk to most of the venues. Scenic areas that tend to draw a crowd are Rosa Parks Circle, Veterans Park and the walking paths by the Grand River. They're definitely a sight to see especially when the big events pour into the city.
I remember a time when I wouldn't have felt comfortable being downtown. Now, with all the nightlife attractions, many people are casually walking the streets even in the late, late evening hours. It truly is a wonderful place to be and be apart of. That's why so many people are taking advantage of all the condominium projects that are available in the downtown Grand Rapids vicinity.
The following is a list of condos, starting with the very first condo to arrive in Grand Rapids and ending with those that are in "the works". (Source GRBJ Research)
