Today, I want to spotlight a historical event. Some historical events affect the future in ways we regret or celebrate forever. Some are just footnotes in the chain of human existence.
On January 27th, 1967 during a training exercise for the Apollo Space Program, a fire broke out in the command module. Three astronauts were trapped inside the sealed compartment and were killed. Air Force Colonels Virgil Grissom and Edward White, and Navy Commander Roger Chaffee lost their lives that day in preparation for an upcoming outer space launch. Many safety upgrades to the modules followed the tragic event.
