N E W S   F L A S H!!

DUKE ENERGY just raised $1,300,000,000 of unsecured money at 6.3% interest in the corporate debt market.

Ain't it nice to be good big to be refused??

Tens of thousands of Duke Energy customers in southern Indiana are without electricity in the  wake of the ice storm.

Company spokesman Lou Middleton says crews are in the field assessing the damage.

Lenn - but was that TARP money that they received? Oh wait, nobody is loaning that out, too busy having retreats and buying aircraft.

Lenn,

Please note that the bailout of corporate America will keep us (business owners and middle class) working harder and making less money as we are going to have to pay more tax dollars so we can continue paying to bailout corporate America.  It is really all about us isn't it?

Oh my word... that is pretty freaking scary. Seriously scary... What could they possibly want with all of that cash?

I know I'm going to pay less for taxes than others for this bailout thanks to my structuring and my accountants knowledge.

Mike.  Nope.  No TARP for utilities.  YET!

Julie.  Actually, I was commenting on the great rate that DUKE got for unsecured debt.

Carolyn.  DUKE provided electricy to about 4 states in the south.  They operate on corporate debt as do most large corporations.

Tony.  Good for you.  I personally worship the ground my accountant walks on.

Lenn,

Duke Energy used to be my client in another life.  I believe they'll do a better job with their money than any of the big banks who are hogging the feed trough.  :)

Mike.  I agree.

My primary interest was that the gentleman from Duke said that they borrowed $1.3Billion at 6.3% unsecured.
