Great news for the Town of Queen Creek! It was awarded a grant from the Arizona Horse Lovers Foundation to create an equestrian trail along the bottom of the Queen Creek Wash from Hawes Road to Desert Mountain Park.

The project includes a safe equestrian ramp from the trail node at Desert Mountain Park into the bottom of the wash. The grant is one of 12 the Foundation awarded in 2008.

The equestrian trail is the critical link in the trails master plan in the Town's overall Parks, Trails and Open Space Master Plan and is part of a larger multi-use trails project on the top of the Queen Creek Wash from Hawes Road to Desert Mountain Park.

Trails and paths are the number one recreational and leisure amenity desired by Queen Creek residents per the most recent Recreation Needs Assessment Study. Construction is slated to begin in March 2009 and run through December 2009.stallion - queen creek - randy hooker

Randy, don't you love Queen Creek? It has such great rural communities....and much quieter. This equestrian trail is something that is so cool and unique to this area. ;-)

Teri ~ I really DO love Queen Creek!  If you can dodge rush hour traffic, it is really a very scenic and inspiring community.  And I agree...  with the new Equestrian Park AND this new riding trail, QC is truly establishing itself as premier horse country!

Jane ~ If you love horses (as if I didn't already know that :), then you would LOVE Queen Creek!  It's a bit more rural, even tho it's still within 1-1.5 hours from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.  You shoud come visit sometime!
