Hey Buddy....Can you spare a dime ?

Well what do you know ? Once again I am standing on the corner of Bitters and Hwy 281. It was cold this morning and I was wearing my motorcycle gloves. I think I looked a bit like Darth Vader. Anyway this guy in a van was looking at me but he didn't indicate any interest in my sign....So I kept walking. Well the light turned green and the guy who was two lanes over in the van I just mentioned started honking like crazy and yelled "Here Dude !" and threw a folded paper out the window. I'm thinking great a new client ! well with all the traffic that little piece of paper went flying into the intersection and was gone. I thought dang the luck. I continued holding the sign getting waves and thumbs up from the folks who see me every morning....but still the piece of paper haunted my thoughts. Could it be this guy had a beautiful piece of property for me to sell or maybe he wanted to buy a 400,000 home. I decided I had been freezing long enough and went to leave. As I was driving off I noticed the piece of paper lying on the side of the road in the grass. My heart soared. I retrieved the paper and opened it up........Dear reader it was an invitation to.....Come be Filled....Healed....and Delivered at the faith outreach center.......For the second time someone saw the sign and a guy on the corner and didn't read the sign and thought your humble street Realtor was homeless and needed to come meet JESUS !

BTW my good friend San Antonio's Rockstar Real Estate Agent Matt Stigliano of Exit Realty North-San Antonio  Finally saw me again He honked the horn and waved in support. I had my sign in the down position Matt because when there is a green light I decided it's best not to distract the drivers.

Glad to see your consistent....if it's cold enough to wear gloves...I am not sure I would have been out there.  I hope you get a call later for that $400,000 buyer.  Too funny that the paper was so distracting not knowing what was in it....he could have at least stuck a dollar in there for a cup of coffee.

Richard, interesting approach but, I think they are not seeing past the fact that someone is standing out in the cold holding a sign.  There are so many people standing on corners asking for help that we have all put on blinders to the fact that there is even someone there.  So they avoid looking at you and do not want to make eye contact to the fact that you might come up to them asking for money if they do.

Actually Larry this only happens occasionally. If you have some time I invite you to read my blog. I picked up two sellers yesterday. So currently I am working with 3 sellers and 3 buyers all from my sign. Here is a line from an email one of my sellers sent.

we could meet up to see what we could work out. BTW i love your work ethic. Saw you in tv, lots of props!

Richard - Driving in I didn't see you, then just as the light turned green, the cars parted and there was Agent Darth Bowman!  Glad you saw me and heard my beeping.  One of these days we'll cross paths over there to have a few minutes.  Three buyers and three sellers - that's not bad numbers at all.

I am seeing you ALL over the place.  You ROCK!  If I ever get close to San Antonio, you are the realtor.  Anyone who can stand so proudly behind that sign would do extra work for me.  Gina
