White People.This controversial and darkly funny play follows the lives of three ordinary Americans placed under the spot-light: Martin, a Brooklyn-born high-powered attorney for a white-shoe law firm in St. Louis, MO; Mara Lynn, a housewife and former home-coming queen in Fayetteville, NC; and Alan, a young professor struggling to find his way in New York City. Through heart-wrenching confessions, they wrestle with guilt, prejudice, and the price they and their children must pay for their actions. A Camden Community Theatre production called "unapologetically silly and at times hilarious" by the New York Times, this hysterical comedy by Paul Rudnick brings the ghost of the great Shakespearean actor John Barrymore back from the grave to help a young actor overcome his fear of playing Hamlet, the role people ritualistically refer to as "the greatest in the English-speaking world." Friday, January 30-Saturday, January 31. USHRA Monster Jam. "The USHRA Monster Jam returns to the Colonial Life Arena for the seventh consecutive year. Gravedigger and his car-crushing crew will put on thee adrenaline pumped shows this weekend! Colonial Life Arena will transform into a giant sandbox for these 1500 horse power Monster Trucks to jump, spin and wheelie for Midlands' audiences." The University of South Carolina's Dance Company will present "American Treasures and More!", a mixed repertory of contemporary ballet works, including the centerpiece, "Who Cares?", the modern ballet composition, "Metastasis," and two original works, "Compound" and "Paradise Found" will round out the performance.
