Good News in Tate County MS

There were several items of good news in Tate County, MS as reported by The Democrat this week. We hear so much bad in the news - both in print and TV - that I thought it would be nice to share some good "goings on" for a change.
The U.S. News and World Report recognized our own Senatobia High Schoolas one of "America's Best High Schools". Congratulations to all the faculty, administrators, and STUDENTS for this honor. Apparently, researchers analyzed test score data, college preparation and Advanced Placement test data. This is a wonderful achievement for Senatobia High School.
Tate County MSis going green. Even though larger cities have had recycling facilities for quite some time, it is difficult for smaller towns to find funding for anything other than basic servies. But, Tate County now has a recycling center open 6 days a week to take paper, cardboard, aluminum, and metal.
My favorite good news of the week is that the Animal Shelter is scheduled to open next month. YEAH!! It has been a long road to get the shelter funded and built, but it looks like it is on track. This is a joint project of both the City of Senatobia and Tate County. A Director has been hired and they have put out the call for volunteers. You can go by Senatobia City Hall Monday - Friday from 8-5 to fill out a volunteer application form. I really want to volunteer but I am afraid I will end up taking a bunch of animals home with me. I kind of have a weakness for them.
My 2 "guard" dogs. We took them in at separate times. I think they are guarding the inside of their eyelids.
