Hard to believe any business, especially one that is NATIONAL would not be using email!
I think insurance companies have always been behind the curve when it comes to technology.
Pat - That's just the reason I went with Geico because they use e-mail.
Patricia,
Wow. I have a claim with Geico and they do everything by email, except for the vehicle title. Sooooo much easier.

Hi Pat... this is not a surprise. I have lenders that I deal with on short sales who insist that I fax in 100+ page short sale packets and will not let me scan and e-mail them, even after telling me that I am faxing them to an e-fax number! Stop the insanity!
I had the same experience with an attorney who was handling a close. I asked the secretary to email me the HUD and she said the program they use doesn't have email capability so she'd have to fax it. My thinking was that their office didn't have the ability yet because they hadn't bothered to learn it. The email to me had no signature. People need to get with it!!
You tell 'em Pat...email cc'd to everyone else in this and that department would be alot easier than a bunch of faxes. Hey..did you hear they have movies now that are not silent, are in color and no piano player down front below the captions on the silver screen? I know I know..hard to visualize..but it's true!
Pat, at least here in old Louisiana, the state fair plan prefers email. It has not in my opinion my the process go faster but it did save on snail mail cost and those lost days.
Patricia- I use State Farm here in WV and when I had an issue with payments made for my home refinance, most of the communication was done by email. Of course I had to ask them a for their email address, they just don't hand it out.
Pat -- very suprising for sure! I've run into it a few other places that have surprised me as well.
Patricia...I love coming over here cuz....I'm never bored. I always enjoy your writing. You are a cut above, my dear!
Pat - I am not sure where State farm is headquartered but in NY one cannot do business by a click of a button - it won't hold up in court.
Patricia - I've always had a good experience with state farm home insurance. I just found out yesterday that State Farm will be pulling out of Florida. They will still be selling auto insurance. But, I will have to find homeowners insurance.
I'm really surprise, just for the electronic trail that e-mail now leaves, I think they would want to use e-mail rather than a fax machine.
State Farm is not a popular company down here in Florida - they are behind the times in more ways than one!
It is hard to believe any business today doesn't use email. It such an easy way to send information. Earlier this year I bought a Fujitsu Snap Scan S510 scanner when the feeder on my Hewlett Packard all-in-one broke. It was the best thing that every happened. The scanner is not only faster but comes with the full Adobe software that lets me edit PDF documents. I can now send sensitive documents that are password protected. On the faxing front I switched from eFax to RingCentral at the first of the year. Not only did the cost go down but the quality went up. Through RingCentral you can turn any document into a fax without ever having to print it.
That is nuts. Why on earth would they not use email? Do they all live on a Farm? Heck even Fasrmers have email!
I can kinda understand it. Can you imagine being the claims adjuster and getting tons and tons of e-mail. Even if you were lucky enough to get just the e-mail from the claims you were working on there is always the danger that an adjustment didn't go the right way and you'd be getting hate e-mail the rest of your career.
I have the same beef about some title companies. First, they don't want you to call but they don't have an e-mail address either. To be fair, a lot more title companies are getting with the program but I'm always amazed at the ones that don't.
