A Moment of Silence in the Rain: Community Member dies in tragic auto accident

Earlier today we received the sobering news that one of our community members has recently died in a tragic auto accident.

Mohamed Mekhimar, an agent with RE/MAX Commonwealth in Richmond VA died early Monday, Jan. 19, in an automobile crash on Pole Green Road, near the Mechanicsville Turnpike.

According to sources at the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, Mohamed Mekhimar was killed around 5:50am when his 2005 Honda CRV ran off the right shoulder and struck a utility pole. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, speed was not a factor, and he was wearing his seat belt.

Mohamed joined ActiveRain in early August of 2006 and quickly achieved the Featured Agent status for Richmond VA.

Really sorry to hear about this. My heartfelt condolences. Life truly is full of surprises. Makes you want to rethink your priorities and live life to the fullest, and spend quality time with people you love in case you don't get a chance to say goodbye.

What a tragedy, everyone is part of the "family" in this community, and losing a member affects us all. Mohamed and his family will continue to be in my prayers.
