Edgewood is a fantastic little town just 20 minutes east of the major metropolitan area of Albuquerque, yet light-years away from city headaches and congestion. 

In recent years, Edgewood has grown rapidly, as easy commuting along I-40, the cooler weather on the east side of the mountains, and the availability of acreage for horse-keeping, gardening, or just plain privacy have prompted many former Albuquerque residents to move to the "green side."  Yet the thriving little community maintains a dedication to old-fashioned values and a rural and small town lifestyle! Located "where the mountains meet the plains," Edgewood's close proximity to the Sandia Laboratories Corridor (Sandia National Laboratories, Kirtland Air Force Base, the Air Force Research Laboratory, and the Sandia Technology Park) make it an ideal location for technology and professional services enterprises.  Local businesses have been booming, too, fueled by an ever-growing increase in population. The commercial district of Edgewood, including some of the longest remaining stretch of historic Route 66, is home to supermarkets, drug stores, service stations, restaurants, banks, professional offices, a variety of shops, lodging opportunities, and even a car dealership.

Local residents are proud of their rural lifestyle. Most properties are on two or more acres, with many folks keeping horses and other livestock, and young people enjoying such country activities as 4H and FFA. Views are stupendous, the weather is great, and there is easy access to all the cultural blessings of both Albuquerque and Santa Fe. The weather is generally mild, but there is always some snowfall, and the higher local peaks at Sandia Crest and Santa Fe provide all the skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, and sledding that any winter sports enthusiast could want!
