shocked faceShocked by Google find?

Google was showing a warning message for all searched sites for 15 mins - hour.

"Warning - visiting this web site may harm your computer"

Visit Monitter.com  and type in that message, and you'll see just how active the Twitter microblogosphere was regarding this bizarre find.

A few independent webpages state that Google makes $28-33K a minute from US business advertisers (via AdWords program).  That's quite the  cashcow!  Things seem to be smoothly running again, although suggestions have been made to check 'spam' folder if you use Gmail as some items may have erroneously been dumped.

The issue was apparently on Google's malware detector (separate entity that dectects viruses, phishers, et cetera).

Audrey- and with Google's stock even going down, they need every penny they can get! That sounds like a lot of money but after all the employees etc, well the profit margin may still not be as great as we see in their last quarterly reporting. I am glad it is fixed! I would have freaked out! Katerina

I saw a lot of talk about this on twitter earlier today.  I wonder if it has anything to do with my site dropping from number 1 to number 2 in the results.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure what happened, so I did a full scan of my computer thinking I picked up a malicious program but found only one critical tracking cookie. Everything is fine now.

Katerina --- Google's got a lot of freeware to support, so yes, ad revenues are critical!  Thanks for the feedback :)

Justin --- Yes, Twitter was all abuzz!  Hopefully your rank is back on top?

Larry --- Ohhh yeah!

John --- Unsettling, isn't it?  Certainly glad the blip was short!
