Can you guess the population of Frisco as of May 1st?
It's NOT What You think!
Every time I see Frisco's growth in numbers all I can say is WOW!
This time I'm really saying WOW because I'm so used to telling you what big leaps and bounds our city has grown by.
For the first time I'm telling you our population has shrunk. Yes, shrunk! When I saw May's population numbers I was sure it was a mistake and I waited to write this post until I got a second report to confirm.
So here it is, confirmed by NCTCOG, last month Frisco lost an estimated 757 residents. But, so we lost a few, we are still not Lowry, SD population 90!!!
It is still estimated that we will go over the 100,000 mark later this year. In fact, according to the Texas State Water Board, Frisco's population will continue to rise steadily for atleast the next fifty years.
This brief slowdown in Frisco's population slowdown is not a surprise to Frisco Planners and they say it is regional and country wide in scope. Here are some of the numbers to put it in perspective:
Frisco building permits by year
2003: 2705
2004: 3415
2005: 3677
2006: 3414
2007: 474 (year to date).
The Year to Date number for Frisco is down 43% compared to 2006.
To put it in perspective with nearby cities:
McKinney: down 48% (453 permits)
Little Elm: down 31% (116 permits)
Allen: down 65% (138 permits)
Plano: down 38% (116 permits)
Prosper: down 12% (79 permits)
Celina: down 40% (24 permits)
Melissa: down 58% (51 permits)
Anna: down 66% (46 permits)
