FOUND!  FUTURE HOME OF A LOVELY GRASSY HILL IN LEESBURG, LOUDOUN COUNTY, VIRGINIA.

Sure, they'll seed it and plant pine trees on it and it will offer a place for the deer to roam.

TODAY, IT'S A FANTASTICALLY BEAUTIFUL SCENE FOUND AT THE LOUDOUN COUNTY LANDFILL.

Loudoun County Landfill

Photo taken at the entrance to the Loudoun County Landfill which offers a public place to dispose of household trash (carload for $5.00), recyclables (free) and just about anything that might collect in the garage.  Conveniently located in the Leesburg suburb.

Lenn--It looks a little alien! You are a surrealistic photographer...never would have guessed this was a landfill.

I would never have guessed this was a landfill. From your photo it looks like there may be some beauty in everything.

The Great Silver Volcano. I mean what else could it be? You are right though. I carry my camera with me in the car everywhere. I should be taking more pictures than I do.

Lenn - GREAT picture!  We are going to start carrying our camera around with us also.  Thanks for the idea.

Awesome picture. Our landfill doesn't look anything like this. Believe me, we don't want a picture of that. BUT, living in the southwest there sre so many things that I could  be photographing that are beautiful. Thanks, my camera will be in hand.

Andrew.  Very good.  It reminded me of something from the surface of a far away moon.

Gabe.  That's what it is supposed to be.

Craig.  Thanks.  It was the light that got my attention.

Treva.  I bet you could find a good scene at a landfill if you looked for one.  I like to see the heavy equipment moving earth.

Fran and Rowena.  You'd be surprised what you'll see whan you're prepared.

Herb.  Indeed.  We all should.  I usually remember.

Bo.  I thought not.

Joan.  I may take a photo of mulch mountain.

June.  I love it.

Mark.  That's why I took it.

It looks like you have your share of ice.  I am sure that the deer will enjoy it when it is all completed.

Don.  We only got an inch or two.  This was so specatular because the sun had melted it and it froze over Friday night.  It was the sun light that made the photo.

Missy.  It made me stop and grab my camera

James.  My camera is a simple little Canon Power Shot, but it's simple minded like me.

Lenn -  when I first travelled to Northern Ireland, I was driving along and I spotted this glistening mountain of black up ahead in the distance.  I had never seen anything like it; so pretty with the sun bouncing off it.  When I finally reached it I asked two men standing beside it, what in the world it was; it was so pretty.   They looked at me like I had two heads and then responded, "It's COAL - what planet are you from?"    I laughed and laughed the rest of the trip.  I had never seen coal other than on the bbq and it didn't look like that!

Your pic is gorgeous and so unique!  Thanks for sharing it.

Lenn - amazing shot.  It is similar to our landfill outside of Sandpoint in the Selle Valley.  I love going there with my recycle "stuff".  The view from the site is unbelievable looking out at the Selkirk Mountains and the Colburn Drainage on the back side of Schweitzer Mountain.

Samantha.  It surely does look like something from outer space.

Patricia.  Thanks.  Every once in a while, I catch one.

Cindy.  I love the landfills.  It's a great service for folks.  Before these county services, we never had a good place to dispose of things like old tires, motor oil, paint, metals, etc.  These county disposal locations have a place for everything one wants to toss.

Liz.  Right.  This landfill is about 20 minutes from my home and I dispose of trash there about 2-3 times a month.  There is no trash pick-up in the sticks where I live.

Fran.  Keep trying.  Look for angles, perspective and color.  There's an artistic bone somewhere in everyone.  You just have to find it.

Pat.  Now you've got it.

Lenn, before I googled the actor's name and then looked up the name of the movie, the comment looked like this:

this picture reminds me of that actor that was in jaws with the glasses who thought they needed a bigger boat.  He had a beard and he was in this other sci fi movie that had really great music and he kept building something in his backyard for aliens!

So, I can't remember last week either!  Thank God for google!  My 12 year old always tells me that I would be lost without google and he is correct.  Why clutter your brain with details that can be looked up when you need them?

Susan.  I'm lost without Google too.
