I have been asked, sometimes several times every week by different people who communicates with me via business, friendships or just at random. One question I get asked often is,

What Does 3:16 in your business name mean?

Most Christians would be familiar with the infamous John 3:16 bible scripture, For God so love the world, that He gave His only begotten Son so that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

3:16 team REALTY birthed from 1 John 3:16My business name, however is not based on this particular scripture. It birthed from 1 John 3:16. Something that most people are unaware of: We know what Love is because Jesus gave His life for us. That's why we must give our lives for each other (Contemporary English Version).

When I came home from my mission trip to Kenya more than 2 years ago, I knew God didn't plan for me to be a missionary overseas like my pastor, Chris Exley. I knew that my mission field is at home, here in the Frisco Texas area. I accepted the calling, took up the cross and went to work to launch my very own real estate brokerage in 2007. Nope, I didn't end up as a Re/Max, Keller Williams or Century 21 agent. I knew God had a different plan for me. I prayed about a business name and after many days, I felt very strongly about 3:16 team REALTY.

Though I am currently the broker and sole Realtor(R) of this company, team (for now) just means God and I. We are a TEAM. No decisions are made without prayerfully consulting Him. I know that God has plans to expand this "team".

Many friends, families and past clients who care about me ask me about How my business is doing - especially with the real estate market conditions in the way that it is. I smile and reply with the same answer every single time. "Business may be slow for some. But for me, things are heading in the right direction. I am never too swamped with clients. And whenever one client closes on a transaction, in a day or two, a new client will always call me for my assistance. I dont know how it happens, but it always does".

One of the more memorable conversations I've had with a fellow Realtor(R) was asked about What 3:16 means? After I explained how most people would associate the name with John 3:16, but this business is really about 1 John 3:16. His comment was, "Wow. I have never heard that before but I am proud to do business with someone has a 3:16 name in their business".

My views and how I represent myself since that conversation has never been the same. Everyday, I carry my role as Christ's ambassador, my God as my CEO. I hold myself accountable to Godly expectations. I am salt to add God-flavors and I am light to add God-colors in everyone I encounter with.

My mission is very clear. My job is to share Christ's love with everyone I come in contact with through real estate. That's all it is required of me. There is no hidden agenda. In 1 Corinthians 3:6, I planted the seeds, Apollo watered the plants but God made them grow. Need I say more?

So, in return, I'd love to hear what - if there is a meaning to your business? Share with me. I'm all ears.

Connie - It's funny how not only do I work with alot of clients who share the same faith, I work with many more who have different beliefs and some with no beliefs at all. Some republicans, some Democrats, some pink, some purple, some straight and some not straight either.

The beauty of this business is to appreciate that everyone has different personalities, likes and dislikes. One thing is for sure, Everyone needs a home.

Andrew - Let's take one day at a time, one transaction at a time. We could only set ourselves to a higher standard to those we serve.

Loreena - Thanks for sharing the story about the name of your company.  When I have read your posts, I have made the assumption that it came from John 3:16.  What kind of mission work did you do in Kenya?  We have been blessed to be able to make two mission trips to Mexico to work in an orphanage in Serdan (state of Puebla) and one in Cuernavaca (state of Morelas).  The trips have changed our lives - and our business, too!

Loreena, I commented on Facebook, but thought I would comment here, too.

Your beliefs and convictions shine through in your online presence, and I'm sure, more so in real life.  This post is just lovely.

Loreena, I think THIS is one of your best posts EVER! I too, naturally assumed the 3:16 was from John 3:16. You see people holding up those signs even in football stadiums. But from 1 John, the letter, and the verse, that is AMAZING. I am so proud of you Loreena. You and God are right there together and your faith and trust in Him is such a great example for everyone.

I did get the sense that you weren't working the occult niche very aggressively.

Hi Loreena. Yes, I too assumed that 3:16 was John 3:16. What a great opportunity for you to share where the true inspiration and verse for your business came from. The company, Appalachian Land, that Lee and I work for is a Christian based company. That covering provides a caring environment for us and accountablilty as to what the Word would have us do. I think what you said "I work with many more who have different beliefs and some with no beliefs at all. Some republicans, some Democrats, some pink, some purple, some straight and some not straight either." is the true reflection of the love of Christ when we see Him in everyone and treat them as He would us. You are an inspiration!

After reading this post, I felt a great happiness that GOD is here to help us too on Active Rain.  May the Lord help us be strong believers and someone else that is needing an extra hand will feel the presence that he gives us to be strong.

Loreena,

Your story and faith have uplifted me.  I believe God called me into Real Estate.  I did not expect it or even desire the call.  I have come to love what I do.  I was placed in a small brokerage with good people but some didn't know why they should do the right thing, other than being good business.  It was the first time I felt callrd to a mission field.  A Real Estate office!  18 months later I have encouraged fellow believers, lived my faith and witnessed the owner of the brokerage come to Christ.

The company merged with Keller Williams a few months ago and I have found that now the ownership and managment of this brokerage are christ followers and not afraid to proclaim Christ.

Peace

David

Thanks for sharing.  I was one of the people who email about the name. I'm encouraged by this post and particularly this sentence.

"My job is to share Christ's love with everyone I come in contact with through real estate."

Clearly, the Lord as called you to this profession and I pray that the Lord will make Frisco better a place through you.

In a business where there are so many ways our clients are "in the dark", it's nice to know there's light out there for them. Your clients are blessed, even the purple ones. Like you, I approach my business dealings from a point of ministry, however my clients do not overtly know. I do not have a minimum standard in my name yet (broker exam next month). Their benefit from me is in service, primarily in what I know and share with them leading to meeting their buying or selling needs.

Great post, even greater approach to serving God's people.

Loreena,

I love this post.  I have read so much lately from fellow Realtors about how they do business with either themselves or other industry partners as the most important part of the puzzle (in the commissions they earn, what other industry professionals think, etc. ) and it just rang false to me.  What is most important to ME is how my work affects my clients (sellers and buyers).  I take care of them first as that is what i have been hired to do, the money will take care of itself.  While I do care for other industry associates, I do not put their needs or concerns of their thoughts above those for my clients.  My clients are not real estate professionals, that is why they hired me to look out for them and I take that as a very heavy responsibility.  By the way, my brokerage is just me and my partner and we are name Papillon after the french word for butterfly which has a lot of metaphors...

Loreena - Although I probably do not practice religion as much as you, I still hold true to values, morals, and helping others.  There is so much greed, and what's in it for me attitude, that sometimes I have a hard time working with others.  Good to hear you are such a great person, but I already knew that.

Loreena, And if we're ashamed of HIM on earth, he will be ashamed of us in Heaven.  Great blog.  What a wonderful concept ... teaming with HIM.

I think I'll ask him to be on my team too.  Would you mind?

By the way.  To answer your question.  My company name is the name of my town and I'm proud of that too.  I started Pine Knoll Shores Realty and named it for the town I live in and love and it has worked well for me.

I love the way you think and was hoping by the time I got to the end you had posted this to the christianity group as well.  I think and feel that my first assignment is to show Christ in my life and everything else justs falls into position.  I see it in everything as I reflect on my life.  He has allowed me to be a servant in this profession and I am very pleased to be his vessel.  God bless....

Thank you for sharing; I had noticed your company name before, but had no idea as to the 3:16 reference.  Your compass is true; you are certain of your path - I admire that.
