Although your recommendations on keeping credit scores high are sage advice, we have a number of lenders still capable of doing FHA to 580 and some that will still consider FHA to the HUD imposed minimum of 500 (over 90% loan to value). Please clarify when spreading this kind of information since it does none of us any good if a buyer with a 598 score decides he can't buy a home after reading this post.
Many individual lenders have "overlays" that are stricter than HUD's requirements, but thankfully there are usually a few that don't!
