A few years ago while I was up north for the summer in the Buffalo area, I was visiting some friends in the country.  We were sitting out on his deck and   I spotted a squirrel go into one of their many birdhouses.  I mentioned it and and went over to see if I could get a picture of it inside.  No such luck, I think he saw me coming and hid deeper inside.  By this time, I think everyone thought I was either hallucinating, or just pulling their leg.  I do have a bit of a prankster in me.

I decided to try and get a video of the little guy, and tapped the house with a broom handle.  We all gathered around, and here is the outcome.

Hi Bob,

He was a quick one too, wasn't he! At least you were able to show the skeptics he was in fact living in their birdhouse.

Hey, Bob. That was cruel -- LOL. You need one of those snaking cameras that the plumbers use. You could just have poked the end through the hole and seen what that little squirrel was up to in there.

I think you might have a good career in Hollywood waiting for you.  Great catch of the squirrel!  I often wonder what they think is going on when they are inside the feeder...

Hi Bob,

Those squirrels are always finding their way into birds' domains. They are greedy little suckers when it comes to bird feed too!

Thank you all for you comments.  The reason for the knock was to evict the little guy.  A pair of house wrens had set up housekeeping in that house, and the squirrel was trying to push them out of it.  The squirrel ultimately won.

Hi Bob, seems like you redeemed yourself with this video!  We lived in a rather "squirrley" area once and I had tomato plants. We also had some bat houses way up in the trees... occasionally, the squirrels would deposit tomatoes on top of those bat houses!
