Are relationships in real estate important?

I just came home from church today and was thinking about some material I read in Sunday School.  It talked about the importance Jesus Christ put on RELATIONSHIPS.  We are commanded in Mark 12:28-34 to "Love your neighbor as yourself".  God created us for RELATIONSHIPS.  Is that why he made Eve for Adam?  I believe so.

Now I realize that a life without RELATIONSHIPS would probably be much easier and simpler.  There would be less pain and maybe Adam would still even be in the garden. However, think what Adam would have missed.  A life without companionship and the wonder of children.  Have you hugged your child or a good friend today?

RELATIONSHIPS  need to be of the utmost importance, maybe even your top priority.  Not just in life, but also in your business.  Are you missing a bulk of business because you aren't nurturing your RELATIONSHIPS?  Do your friends call you when they have a real estate question?  If not, is it because you are not making your RELATIONSHIPa priority?  Do you have a database that notifies you when it is their birthday and you give them a call just to say "Happy Birthday"?  Now remember, the point here.  It is the RELATIONSHIP you are after, not the business.  Making the RELATIONSHIP a priority will grow your business.  You will be the first name off their lips when someone mentions real estate in their presence.  Don't miss this bulk of business.

As Jesus commanded, "Love your neighbor as yourself", make this a priority and see if your business doesn't grow as a result of HIS command.

Have a wonderful Superbowl Sunday and enjoy the opportunity to nurture a RELATIONSHIP while rooting your team to the big WIN!

Cindy, Yes, I believe relationships are important and I could not agree more with many of the points you make. One example of this is that it is all too easy to forget how much we need to maintain the relationship we formed with the clients we have already had the privilege to serve. There are few things that can take the spring out of our step faster than looking at the new listings hotsheet and seeing one of your former clients home for sale by another agent. "Clients for life" is cliche I know, but if we value the trust they placed in us on the original transaction, and even make a small effort to maintain contact with them, we will be the ones pounding in the yard sign when the time comes to resell their home. Blessings and as a fellow Christian I admire your conviction. Dean Curtis

Cindy, Great Post, I agree with you 100%, if we would "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" we would have better relationships. Thanks for sharing.
