I doubt many of us pay any attention to the 'Mineral Right' clause hidden away in the stack of papers at a loan closing. This is a fascinating story or a guy in Yakima who discovered high quality petrified rocks; However, it wasn't just a few fragments, it was a forest of different species of trees! Get this, the site contains dozens of standing trees!

Ahh, those minerals!  Most folks think their home is built on dirt and maybe some rocks.  Not so fast.  It may be worthwhile to find out what may lie under your abode.  In the case of a AAA pitcher in the LA Dodgers organization, he became an instant billionaire when it was discovered that his large property given to him by his grandmother contains rare, incredibly valuable rock.  I can't recall what kind of material it specifically is, but it obviously paid off to gain a clue as to what the land is made up of.  Some developers may sell of their land tracts or parcels, but retain rights to the minerals beneath.  Probably a good move, eh?

Have you ever been to the Gingko Petrified Forest at Vantage right near the Columbia River in central WA?  It isn't far from this new discovery in Yakima.  It's one of those spots in our great state that I drive near all the time, but just haven't stopped to check out.
