Travel Day One
This big day! I’m about to undertake my first trip outside of North America. Taiwan is the destination; the motivation is a reunion with my son and meeting my daughter in law, May, and three and a half year old grandson, Silas, for the first time.
Awake at 6:00am I pack with great organization, do my laundry, tidy my suite, redirect my email and voice mail, pay some bill, contact my credit card companies to approve my cards for use in Asia.
The Happy Wanderer is About to Embark
My car is loaded and I’m about to leave the snow and chilly weather behind. I have a long day before me as I will drive to SeaTac airport, fly Alaska Air to San Francisco at 7:30pm, lay over in San Francisco for three hours, and board China Airlines at 12:15am for a fourteen hour flight to Taipei where I will arrive at 6:00am, Saturday morning.
A quick stop a Keller Williams Valley Realty to check my mail and clean my desk and I’m off at Noon
Goodbye Canada Hello USA
I found a great parking rate of $6.99 a day with Ajax Parking. It’s about five minutes further away than most of the parking lots but I rather spend five minutes than pay $12.00 to $15.00 a day for twenty-one days. Ron the operator and what I think was his daughter were very helpful and courteous. As Ron is from Taiwan he was very happy to hear that I was visiting his home country.
My first day of travel ended with me boarding China Airlines at midnight.
