I CONFESS... I watch OPRAH and enjoy it!

So today opens the new season of Oprah. I am sooooo in need of a fresh Oprah "fix".

I recently was shopping for props for our prop library at IKEA here in Chicago and there was a woman that looked so much like Oprah... I had to ask. She just smiled and said that people always tell her she looks like Oprah.

Like Oprah, generosity beamed thru her reply.

It was in mid August and I need a good Oprah fix... it did hold me over.

WHY do I watch Oprah... because she puts herself out there.

Is Oprah right all the time? NO, not in my opinion! But, like a blog, she puts her opinions out there... she gives you the world via her eyes. While she has an strong opinion, she KNOWS she is not an authority she is a human. She stirs the pot to start dialogue.

I can not tell you the number of times I have been turned into a rain puddle just watching the show.

Oprah's show is RICH with information for how to be an authentic and responsible business person.

I want what she has... not the money, not the fame. But the voice that inspires others to move the world and makes it a better place.

Craig, Ok, I don't watch Oprah. But I will admit to curling up in my moo moo and some bon bons and watching Ellen. What's wrong with me?

I like the fact that she gives so much of her money away to good causes and really cares about people.  I don't know why she wants to have such a big house though.

Leslie, I wouldn't mind selling her a very big house.

Craig, I think we all could learn something from Oprah.  Do you share Lipnitz' affection for Kelly Ripa too?

you know, some people may see her as a god, but I see her as you do. I do not watch Oprah and have no intention to keep on, but the few times I have sat and watched her I did watch pretty much the whole show. Instead of her giving out cars I would love to see her in one of the city's soup kitchens or other community venues getting down and dirty with others, and not for just one day, one show, but a consistent thing. Or did I miss that show...?

You guys should read the "Dog Whisperer's" book.  He also idolizes Oprah.  He figured if he ever got on her show he had "made it".  The irony is that he sees Oprah as one of the most powerful women in the world and the reason he was on her show was because she could not handle her little bitty dog!  It was one of the few shows I have seen of Oprah.  Cesar Millan describes telling Oprah that she conveyed weakness around her dog and that's why the dog was misbehaving.  He said this to the woman he considers to be one of the most powerful in the world!  It's a quick read for dog lovers and if not, catch his show on the National Geographic channel.  (He has a blog, too!)

I like her show sometimes - don't catch it very often. I like her business-sense and give-back to humanity.

Craig, I have a dream.

I have a dream that some day before I die,  I will make it onto the Oprah Winfrey show, (no not as a guest) I just want to be in the audience on one of the days she gives away all that wonderful free swag she is famous for promoting....

Craig,

True story, I wanted to be a talk show hostess when I grew up.  In high school I had a picture of Oprah up in my locker.  I was the hostess of the Wildcat Wrap Up which was our high school news show on local cable.

Needless to say, I feel short on that one!

I too like Oprah.  I Tivo the show.  I don't watch them all.... but I do sometimes watch her.  I think that she lost me as a fan after the whole Hermes thing.  I thought she was wrong.  How she handled it was wrong.  She can be a bit smug.  It breaks my heart.

I like you... you make me smile

Sara, (the pearly terror)

I go for the GREATER good... not isolated moments when someone is being a TOTAL jerk.

Oprah is HUMAN just like you and I. Which means she makes mistakes, just like you and I.

Fortunately for us WE don't have the world watching us.

I agree and there is much good with Oprah. Remember, I was the girl with the pictures of her up in my locker.

Why does everyone love Oprah so much...but not try to live at all like what they say they like so much about her?  Oprah (who we love, too) may give away lots of money (over $50 million last year I was told) and spends lots of her time on charities and other well-intentioned efforts, but in scale, there's plenty of time for all of us to do the same thing.  Plenty of REALTORS and other real estate professionals have made charity a visible part of their business, but is it really part of their lives?

I, too, love anyone that puts it out there, whether right or wrong, because anyone who needs to couch one's opinions around others...should just stay home on their own couch.

Hi Craig...however did I miss this blog before? Thanks to the recent blog about one of my favorite "GEMS" did I have the opportunity to find it.

So right on...and SO why I love Oprah as well!!!! You have a phenomenal way of seeing things how they truly are, putting them into words and having other believe in you as well Mister. ME tinks you may be a younger Oprah in boxers and jeans :)

All the best,

Beth
