What do you think about the media coverage of the market?

We need to be reminded me of the old saw; only believe half of what you see and none of what you read!

When was the last time you picked up the paper and read something positive about the real estate market; the outstanding opportunities to buy?  With many homes to choose from, lower prices and interest rates so low, now is a great time to buy.

In many cases a tenant could own their unit for less than their rent!  There are, of course, tax benefits and incentives for first time buyers.   Move-Up buyers benefit during a downward or flat market.   And let's not forget, this is an awesome time for investors too!

Consumer confidence is one of the keys to turning around the real estate economy.  We, the real estate community, have the responsibility to spread the word!

There are incentives, but the vascillation of the government with the "stimulous" gives the consumer the impression that they'll do better if they wait.

The consumer is usually about 6 months behind the market.

If only they knew.

I loathe the media's coverage of the market. They scare the pants off everyone.

I know the media is a group of uneducated individuals when it comes to real estate or they wouldn't say anything.  Second, every report is a robotic report of a filtered system.

Do not beleive them!  If they knew real estate they would report something different.

The media is running the country unfortunately.  We used to think for ourselves now we just believe what they tell us and it is all bad.  Things will change, surely people will come to realize they are being lead vs making their own decisions.  Maybe I am too optimistic, but I try to provide things that focus on the positive when I can to my customers.  This too shall pass................

Usually by the time a government agency reports the status or trend in our economy, I have felt it "first hand" in my wallet for several months, on the ocasions where my wallet is in my back pocket I have felt it a few "other" places as well. Media spin is what brings them ratings, bad news draws more attention than good. I don't like it one bit, most people don't, maybe that is why they are all going out of business. Hmmmm
