Hopkinton's new warming hut at ice house pond

By

Hopkinton volunteers with the help of CPC funds, have restored the original Circa1872 Hopkinton train depot into a warming hut at Ice House Pond. The sation is opened on weekends for skate changing and has benches and beautiful wooden panel walls. The pond has for many recent years been used for skating and the town has made a parking lot and now this awesome warming hut. This is another example of the community spirit that is Hopkinton. Another place for the community to gather and enjoy winter activities.

Hi John, What a great thing! As someone who loved to ice skate and as a historic preservationist - I love it! And the video is wonderful. When I was a kid living in Medfield we used to skate at Rocky Woods. Having the lodge to warm up made all the difference. Unfortunately they stopped ice skating there years ago. This is such a wonderful thing that Hopkinton did. Liz

Hi, Elizabeth, yes it is a great thing on both counts. Thay have saved, relocated and restored a late 1800's train depot and made it not just a historic preservation but a useful attribute to the community. John
