Sunday was a busy day for the Lockport Lightning and Thunder U10 girls and boys soccer teams.
Let's start with the Lockport Lightning U10 girls.
The Lightning advanced another game in the win column with as strong outing against the Niagara U10 girls. Lockport posted a 5-0 win. My daughter picked up 3 points this week with three assists. The win moves the Lockport Lightning U10 Girls team to a 3-1-0 record. The girls are improving with each week. As I stated in past posts this team is very young with 8, 9, and 10 year olds making up the 10 year old team. Good job girls!
On a side note for the girls game. The referee was by far the best I've seen in the two years since my kids began playing soccer at the travel level. Yes, these teams are travelingteams and represent the best of the best for each community for their ages. Sometimes what is lost in excitement of the game is that the kids are just 10 years old and are still learning the game. The referee this week did call the game according to the rules, but if a player was called on for something he took the time to walk over and explain what was wrong to the player. He understood his job and did it well and I congratulated and thanked him after the game for being not only a referee, but a teacher for the kids during the game.
The Lockport Thunder U10 boys team played Sunday afternoon in a very exciting fast paced game. The Locport boys beat the U10 boys Clarence (A Team) 4-2.
